| CHARTattack: Have you started work on the new album? What's the sound shaping up to be? Similar to The '59 Sound?Alex Rosamilia: We don't have enough material to really come to any conclusions as of yet. There is a pretty big disco/salsalito vibe on the songs we've got so far. | |

| well, here's Brian in his latest interview (Washington): "We’re taking six months off and making a new record. The new record will be a harder, less ‘50s influenced version of The ’59 Sound. We’re writing in the same style, but it’s more bluesy and faster. The ’59 Sound is pretty fast, but it’s quiet. We’ve turned it all up. The slapback echo on the vocals is gone. It’s a meaner record. We’re not a meaner band, but we’re worldly. We’ve taken a lot of kicks since the last record. [...] I can’t write about the same stuff anymore. I want to write about what I know now, because I’m a different person." for the rest of the interwiew, see https://thegaslightanthem.forumotion.com/interviews-f14/new-brian-interview-washington-t1412.htm | |

| Sounds awesome! And it makes sense, we have heard a definite blues influence enter the live show over the past year. Even old Sink or Swim songs have been "bluesified". | |

| funny, though, that bit about "it’s more bluesy and faster", as I tend to think of blues slowing songs down a bit but bring it on | |

| Blues can be pretty fast sometimes though
I'm expecting it too sound typically The Gaslight Anthem with octave chords melodies and catchy chord progressions, but with a bigger rock sound with ringing chords and bluesy solos. I would also love to hear the raspy vocals Brian did on Tin Pan Aley

"New songs= Tom Waits and early Clapton singing London Calling-era Clash with Social D as the band, with Diana Ross on backup vocals."

American Slang....I like it. Anyone think they'll play a new song or two in when they play in Montclair tomorrow?

| I doubt it. The first and second times they played The '59 Sound were in May 2008 when the album was finished and press copies were out. With so much of their stuff going on YouTube I'd seriously doubt that they're going to let something new get out on the Internet before they even hit the studio | |

i think i'd rather hear it when it's all done and ready anyways. maybe hear the first single right before the album comes out, but i would rather have the whole new album to listen to rather than hearing a few tracks ahead of time in poor quality on youtube...
