| I'm happy for them to suprise me (I'm used to it from Springsteen); inevitably some won't like the direction they'll take (forward, backward, sideward, up or down ... never mind the diagonal variants) | |

| New album, news from the MyCentralJersey report of Brian's solo gig at the Court Tavern on 22 August: "Along the way, Fallon divulged details about the next Gaslight album. It'll be a mixture of the Supremes, the Clash and Tom Waits, he said." http://www.mycentraljersey.com/article/20090824/ENTERTAINMENT01/90824068/-1/newsfront | |

| Brian on the new album:
"Musically we are incredibly ambitious. My goal is to write a record that makes people say, The 59 waht? I want to make people forget this record with how good our new record is. People are going to be blown away by what we come back with, the new record is still going to be us but everything we did on The 59 Sound will be flipped. The songs are going to be a bit more aggressive, we are going to switch to clean guitars with British sounding Voxs and Marshalls, a lot of cool stuff like that is going to go on.
I'm excited about playing now. I'm so electrified by playing live that I want to give people something so incredible that they can barely believe they just heard it. I want it to be like the first time I heard 'London Calling', giving you the punch in the face that forces you to conclude that it is the best record in the world. I really want to floor people, I'm aiming high.
We have been pegged so hard with Jersey and Springsteen, which is cool, but we definetly looking to move away from that. The old-time soul and rock'n'roll influences that we focused on before have been substitued by The Kinks, The Jam, The Who and The Clash on the next record.
We are going to give people a taste of the wilder side of this band, the James Brown, the Chuck Berry side of The Gaslight Anthem. The 59 Sound had a romantic vibe, now we are ready to give it a bit more excitement, more charge.

| Shit, I'm pretty excited now. Brian seems like an honest kinda guy so I can definitely see something awesome happening.
I too would like to know where you found that quote as I've tried searching for more info on the new album but to no avail.

| im stoked. I like the Springsteen / Jersey sound...but I can see why they want to move in their own direction, as they must get tired of constantly being compared to Bruce. | |

| This just in from Alex Rosamilia in a Rocksound interview:
"I'm going to try and add some keyboards to the new stuff, not synths but actual keys and maybe even an organ. Piano is my first instrument, I already know how to play it so why not, gives me an excuse to buy a keyboard. I also want to try and put some pedal steel on the record but that might be too lofty of a goal."

Much of his guitar sounds like something you'd often play on piano so I think that can work out pretty well

| I would also like to hear some blues songs out of them. They kinda leaned towards that sound on '59 Sound with "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues".
I think it would sound great.

| I'm excited to hear some Social D in their music. It's clear that touring with them for a few days has left a big impression on both Benny and Brian from interviews they've given. | |
