I need to ask what everybody else’s interpretation of the bridge is, especially the (promise) that you’ll forget me not, never feel too much. What do you think that means? In my head my interpretation is pretty grim but I’m hoping it’s just me putting my own experiences onto his words.

To me, this is saying "ours was to be the great love of our lives. If you meet someone else, it's okay, but don't ever love them more than you loved me."
