I love the new version...I definitely wouldn't say it lacks energy, it is just more of a foot-stomper rather than the original version which is rollicking and quicker. I try not to get too caught up comparing versions of songs

I dont think it necessarily confirms that.  I do think they will play it more like the record initially, however given enough time they could go back to the old way they play it.  Some of his gaslight songs he speeds up and slows down depending on how hes feeling.  Obviously the song he completely changed...was it long drives?...I forget already...that probably isnt going back to its orginal form.  I agree I like the way Smoke was live before, but this isnt bad either, and he could easily enough switch back to playing it faster live.

You're talking to the girl who stopped holding her breath for Boxer to go back to it's original form. This isn't just slowed down. Sure they could play it like the original again but I don't see that happening any time soon. Hopefully I'm just bitter and cynical and completely wrong

Observation : Isn't it kind of weird that he switched the line "I wish I could tell you, I had the worst little dream" to the second verse? The chorus with the bizarre imagery of hearts and daggers and ladders seems to be about his dream, so doesn't it make more sense that he introduces that with the "little dream" line before the first chorus?

No, no, I think the imagery is awesome -- I just think the "I had the worst little dream" line is there to introduce the imagery and it worked better going in the first verse.

For those of you who have had the download, is that from the European or US store? Trying to decide which one to bother, as I have pre-orders with both!

US store for me.

I really hope this album leaks soon as its under different circumstances since he is already playing them anyways... I just want to be able to sing every song when I see him in early March.. & I already bought the pre-order bundle..

Here's a link to a fun conversation with Brian. It's from the Going off the Track podcat. Podcasts aren't my thing, but I found this interesting. I love how Brian speaks like such a music fan, and a down to earth guy in general. Without being specific, he talks about few subjects like growing up, Gaslight taking a break, musical influence, and just normal guy things, reacting to feedback in the press and lots more. It's been far more interesting than the start interviews lately. Hope Brian goes back to do another one some day.

I'm still waiting for the last one...American website are ignoring their emails, and the European one are 'looking into it'. Can't believe how inefficient these people are!

Really like this...the production is absolutely perfect, really simple and just makes the song sound beautiful.

I'm loving these songs so far. Can't wait to hear the rest. Steve McQueen is really growing on me with every play. "let's go, slip, slide it in my veins"

I’ve noticed The Blues, Mary missing from most of the set lists so far (don't think I've seen it at all). We know it’s included on the 7” box set version of the record, so I’m starting to wonder if the recorded version is quite different from the old demo, and that’s why it hasn’t been played yet – maintain some element of surprise! We’ve already seen some quite big changes with the MATZ songs.

Pure speculation obviously, but it would explain why it's not being played. Really hoping to hear it at one of my three shows, as it’s a definite favourite of mine.

Alright, we're almost at a week out! I really hope he livestreams the album. It'd be nice to have a full week to learn the rest of the songs not 24hours before Starland.

We'll be getting the song Painkillers on March 4 so maybe a stream after that?

Painkillers (the song) is now up on the Aussie spotify... sounds great, although its much less "rocky" than i expected from the live videos.

Seems to be the case for much of the album. After the release of A Wonderful Life and then hearing everything live where he played the entire show on electric I was actually pretty excited that he seemingly didn't go in a mostly acoustic direction. But the studio recordings that have come out since have basically all been more in the vain. Not saying that as necessarily a negative, the songs are still great. Just personal preference.
