| http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/zan/blog/s4171087.htm Brian Fallon Takes 5 with his happy heartbreak songs...Heartbreak is a universal feeling. We've all been there, and if you haven't yet, you will. Sorry but it's true. How you come out of it though, can be different for everyone and this morning the frontman for The Gaslight Anthem took us through his happy heartbreak so ngs. The tunes that, even through the pain, help you see that maybe it was for the best. That maybe that person wasn't your soul mate. That everything's gonna be ok. Across five songs we talked about wearing your heart on your sleeve in your songs, about the in-jokes of Bryan Adams, and just how much Brian hates the musical Grease. If you missed it, you really should stream it in full, above. And see The Gaslight Anthem over the next few days, here are their dates/deets. Here's what he played:1. The New Basement Tapes - Kansas City (ft. Marcus Mumford) 2. The Killers - All These Things That I've Done 3. Lo Fang - You're the One That I Want 4. Bryan Adams -Summer Of '69 5. Calvin Harris - Sweet Nothing | |

| I really liked this concept of favorite "happy heartbreak" songs. I'm trying to think of what 5 I'd pick. I love these 5 though. I hadn't heard the 1st or the 5th one but I like 'em. "All These Things That I've Done" was a serious throwback. I completely forgot that song existed. I cannot believe it's over ten years old already! Summer of '69 will never get old. I still love it. That's the first time I've heard that cover of "You're the One That I Want" and I can't get over how different it is. Seriously though, someone go make Brian actually watch Grease, because it's pretty great My 4 year-old self does not approve of this negative talk (it was my favorite movie when I was a toddler, no joke). | |

| I absolutely loved everything about this. I get so tired of the same interviews asking the same questions. It was a conversation and one about music between two music nerds. I love hearing what other musicians (and other people in general) listen to and why they love certain songs...I get introduced to so much. Or sometimes RE-introduced to a song I dismissed... The fact that he hadn't recognized "You're the one..." I bet is partly why he hears it so differently than I do. I wish I didn't have John and Olivia burned into my brain...(things I cannot unsee/unhear... ) | |

| Thanks that was really cool!
And I now have "Summer of 69" in my head. Not that it's a bad thing, but I am now nostalgic for high school. My group of friends LOVED that song.

| Loved this.
For some reason the inclusion of Calvin Harris really surprised me, great choices!

Not that I don't love the Grease version when I'm actually watching the movie, but I can't unhear it from that angle. Like if you listen to how he interprets the song, it's definitely different for him because he's only hearing a guy sing it in an entirely different style, as opposed to a guy and a girl singing to each other. It's a small difference that can really change the meaning.
