I don't get it. At the same, I'm not sure there is anything to get. Are the dancers and the makeup supposed to mean anything? Who knows.

Agreed. I mean, it's neat looking, highly stylized -- but it looked to me like "here's a bunch of dancers in a room with a band." There didn't seem to be any connection between the two.
It's still better than the 45 video at least  geek

If you have any questions about the video you can always ask Brian directly in the upcoming Q&A. I think it would me interesting for many to know more about the background of the videos.

I don't really care in general about music videos as I find most of them forgettable, but these two are rather lame really. I mean these two songs - Get Hurt especially - really seem to paint a narrative and a story, there are so many ways it could've been more like a short film based on the lyrics yet you get ... dancers and a performance video.

If a music video isn't like "Drag My Body" by Hot Water Music, it's probably boring. These two are boring. 4/10 would not watch again

to each his own, but the thing about music videos that actually tell a story though, is that, everyone pictures something different when they hear a song. And if that song means something to you, and the story in the video doesn't happen to fit the story in your head, it can make he video even less accessible or change the meaning that the song has for you. For example, the video for handwritten is excellent from a story perspective, but I can't watch it because that song means a lot to me and the video ruins the song for me. So I guess, from my perspective, I'd rather have videos like this that evoke an emotion but don't limit my own perspective on the song by assigning it a story. But maybe that's just me.

I understand that perspective and you're of course entitled to your opinion but we'll have to agree to disagree Smile I didn't feel that this video evoked any emotion. I DID think it was cool stylistically with how they were dressed and the black and whites and stuff. Sort of silent film style visuals. But .. still, forgettable for me.

An example of a video that could've gone story but went full emotion and totally worked as a very memorable video, to me, is "Stay Together for the Kids" by Blink-182. All the emotions still translate but the actions of the video have little to do with the literal interpretation of the lyrics.

I'll actually agree with you there. For Rollin' and Tumblin' at least. I didn't get much in terms of emotional content from that one. I guess I just love the dramatic shots with the dancer in front of Brian, and also his facial expressions. Without those, it'd be kinda terrible. I guess I was thinking more of Get Hurt in terms of a video that manages to evoke emotion without the story element. Although I still think that video could've gone further in some way to make it hit harder. Either way, I'd rather a less than memorable non-story video, than a story video. But I guess like you said, we'll have to agree to disagree on that!  Very Happy
