Certainly those references are there but that does not make "every line" of the song about that topic. There are references to "tail lights" in Great Expectations but that doesn't make it a song about cars.

Short interview but apparently it used to have trumpets in the demos

I think the lyrics are way too open-ended to draw that conclusion. There are literally hundreds of scenarios that the lyrics could apply to (such as a break-up, etc.). That's not to belittle your interpretation. I'm just saying I don't find it very persuasive.

The presence of substance abuse as a theme is pretty clear in both Get hurt and Rollin' and Tumblin', specifically after a break-up. Undeniably.

Yeah, both songs are definitely about a relationship that's dissolved. Drugs/alcohol are referenced, but they aren't the topic of either song.

Now THAT would have been a much more "different" sounding Gaslight. I'd like to hear that at some point. It'd be a nice b-side on a RSD release or something.

When I heard "cocaine" in R&T, I was briefly all a-titter, lol..."He said cocaine! That was definitely cocaine!"

It's taken a while but I now like this track a lot - apart from the first minute - I just don't like the intro at all.
