Seems like they opened in Manchester tonight with Have Mercy, lovely! If that has the same effect as Mae, with which they opened in their European tour a few years ago. And Blue Jeans is back, hurray! Hope they keep this up 'till Edinburgh

Manchester tonight was incredible! I am so glad I picked this date and not the Monday based on both setlists. Opening with Have Mercy was beautiful and similar to how they opened with Mae a couple years ago. They played pretty much a perfect setlist for me including Blue Dahlia, Blue Jeans, Angry Johnny & The Radio (with Blood Bank), 1930, Underneath The Ground, Helter Skeleton.
It was fantastic and they seem to sound better every time i see them. Can't wait til the next tour!

Just about got back from tonight's show (via a detour to pub and a friend's flat after that).
Whilst I really enjoyed Monday's show, I have to agree that tonight was on another level. Kinda gutted I'm not doing any of the other shows on the tour now though.

Does anyone know last night in Manchester what Brian sang at the end of Sweet Morphine in the outro?

Have Mercy really is out of this world. It sounds so good live with the echo effect on the guitar and Brian's voice. Absolutely devastating.

I can't remember specifics (short term memory is awful), but I know he threw a couple of lines of Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now by The Smiths into one song and quite a bit of Scar Tissue by RHCP into another, amongst others.

So, just back home from Birmingham.
Really glad I took a last minute decision to go to that, quite a different set than the two Manchester dates, although the second Manchester one was my personal favourite of the 3.
Unfortunately, personal stupidity of not getting around to eating/drinking enough during the day meant I started feeling really woozy just before Gaslight cameon, and so took the decision to bail then to the side to get a drink/bit of air and have a sit down rather than risk something going wrong in the middle of the crowd! Still, enjoyed the set from the more relaxed position anyway.
All in all, three very enjoyable gigs, and nice to meet various people whilst queueing etc.

Cardiff was a lot of fun. Got to meet Manuela, great seeing you!
Their set was tight, they sounded good, hell, I even liked 1000 years for the first time ever haha! To be fair, the new songs all sounded pretty good. Also liked the Dinosaur Jr bit in the middle of whatever song, unexpected.
Best part was not getting squashed by anyone. I think it was the first time that didn't happen at a TGA show. There was enough room between people, at least where I was standing.
I'm ready to see what dates the new year brings!

So enjoyed the Birmingham gig last night, there was a curfew at 11, so Brian made clear the plan was for no encore nonsense, instead they used the time that would have been spent walking off and on again to cram more songs in.
Thought the setlist flowed really well, and hearing Ain't That A Shame live has actually given it a new lease of life for me - I was really impressed. Really enjoyed the quieter version of Great Expectations, and I'm always happy to hear The Backseat as the closer! For me, it was a really good mix across all of the albums, and even Drive got an airing which was pretty special!
As always, Brian's inbetween song talk was hilarious especially his attempts to dedicate a song to a couple who got engaged at soundcheck - half the crowd then claimed to be that couple!

Had to drop on and say how awesome an experience that Birmingham show was - got a huge kick out of Brian trying to find the couple - as I actually was one half of it! I think the moment was made even funnier because he couldn't spot us, as it lead to some great banter with the crowd! If anyone comes across any video of that please let me know, as I would love to hear it again!

Thanks man, it was a day we will never forget. Brian was such a gent in the way he handled things at the pre show and everyone there was really kind to us. Having 'she loves you' dedicated for us to close the pre show was unforgettable. I am pretty sure it was before ain't that a shame the chatter happened at the main show - does that sound right?

I bet, perfect song for the occasion, what an amazing experience that must have been! I think so?! From memory, he got flustered as a result of all the "engagements" and announced the song was called "Deer Tick" and Ain't that a shame is what got played!

Thats right! And I think he played on the joke later by calling selected poems 'selected bayside' as well!
Yeah, it was all a pretty immense experience that you wish you could watch yourself as well as being in it as it flashes by! Thankfully we should get the chance, as Brian had tipped off Manuela from this forum the night before and asked her to film it for us. Another sign of how kind he was about it all!

They did that at the Manchester pre-show I was at - I want to say during Underneath The Ground, but my memory for these things is terrible.
Trying to work out what little riffs and lyrics they throw in is always fun.
Congratulations on the engagement as well!

Birmingham was great fun and just right for a last night of the tour, even though I'd have been happy for them to play longer.
Brian joined Deer Tick for 'Bastards of Young', John from DT joined TGA on 'The House of the Rising Sun' and Anthony from Bayside joined TGA on GE, as on other nights. Musical highlights for me on this third night that I saw them this tour were: 'Mullholland Drive' and 'We Came to Dance'.
Also talked to Brian and Benny before the show, which always rocks before the rocking even gets started.
Here are two photos, the first from when Brian joined DT, unencumbered by his guitar.
The rest of my photos are at http://gaslightanthem.org/birmingham2014.htm
