| As we are coming to the end of another year I thought it would be cool to see what people rank as their top 10 songs of 2013. For me I think 2013 has been a pretty amazing year for music even better than 2012 was in my opinion and there were some great releases last year. Here's my top 10:
01. Gold - Sharks 02. When The World Breaks Your Heart - Goo Goo Dolls 03. Same Disease - Dave Hause 04. Me - The 1975 05. Thunder Clatter - Wild Cub 06. Let Me Keep This Memory - U137 07. Now Is Exactly The Time - Noah & The Whale 08. Texas - Lights & Motion 09. Too Cold To Run - The Road Home 10. Unconditionally - Katy Perry

| Awesome lists guys! I've really been wanting to check out Isakov and the 1975, maybe these songs are good jumping off points. Here's my list. It was tough narrowing down from other good stuff like Vampire Weekend, Tegan and Sara, Josh Ritter, etc.
1. Demons - The National 2. Sirens - Pearl Jam 3. Plain Sailing Wearther - Frank Turner 4. If I Could Change Your Mind - Haim 5. No. 1 Party Anthem - Arctic Monkeys 6. My God is the Sun - Queens of the Stone Age 7. We Could Be Kings - Dave Hause 8. Hold My Liquor - Kanye West 9. Elephant - Jason Isbell 10. I Should Live in Salt - The National

| Right this was shit hard and also pretty damn rushed so I'm probably missing A LOT of songs that I would put in here. But yeah, here's ten that stuck out for me as of now:
- Sirens: Pearl Jam - Pink Rabbits: The National - Holy: Frightened Rabbit - Saint Valentine: Gregory Alan Isakov - Before: Dave Hause - Only Friend: The Temperance Movement - Ghost Narrative: Emily Barker & the Red Clay Halo - Slipped: The National - Good & Gone: Frank Turner - Pride: The Temperance Movement
P.S - There seems to be a a lot of liking towards the 1975....just thought I'd mention that I can't stand them.

| I'm liking these lists there seems to a few new bands for me to check out now There seems to be a lot of love for Haim here too. I liked most of their debut album, I think Honey & I is a great song that almost made my top 10. And with The 1975 it was difficult for me to pick just one song. Their debut album is great and the EPs they put out before are worth a listen too. Chocolate was one of the best songs of the year for me but I limited myself to one song per artist haha! | |

haha I guess we are on 2 different wavelengths with this one Yeah seems like it. I first heard about them about this time last year by chance hearing a song on Radio 1. I wasn't instantly hooked on them but I thought there was enough about them to keep track of the band. Then I heard Chocolate it just blew me away. It sounded so fresh and upbeat. It's just really catchy music. I saw them live in York in January in a small venue and they were great. I love the guitar work in the band and the way their sound is very broad, from fun pop-rock singles to quite sombre, slower tracks. How come you dislike them so much?

I'm having trouble figuring out what distinguishes them from boy bands besides the guitars. The guy sounds like the singer from Fall Out Boy. Not sure what to make of it

yeah i was about to compare them to one direction but i didn't want to piss anyone off. the production sounds a lot like one direction or nsync mixed with funky guitars. and the kooks

Sure they may have grown up listening to their punk rock records but Matthew Healy will never be as cute as Harry Styles.

| Bang out of order with the One Direction/The 1975 comparisons guys! Listen to songs like 'Me' and 'Menswear'. They have a lot more depth and originality than any One Direction songs! I think the production is great and even though a few of their songs sound quite poppy and upbeat, lyrically many of them are quite dark. Anyway I think they are a great new band and can't wait for more music from them I will have to agree to disagree with many of you by the looks of things haha! | |

| The National album came out during summer and I really can't listen to them when the weather's nice, so I'll figure out my choice from that album soon enough. That being said...
1. The Killers - Just Another Girl 2. Twin Forks - Scraping Up The Pieces 3. The Wonder Years - The Devil In My Bloodstream 4. Arctic Monkeys - Snap Out Of It 5. U2 - Ordinary Love 6. Frank Turner - Four Simple Words 7. Seth Glier - Man I Used To Be 8. Shooter Jennings - Outlaw You 9. Pearl Jam - Sirens 10. Marcus Mumford & Oscar Isaac - Fare Thee Well
I think the older I get the more I realize the things I truly love and the narrower my taste gets. I guess that's normal, though. Very little blew me away this year. The things that did are some of my favorite things of all time, though.
