As Im looking this forum I see alot of people like to travel here. At least to see some bands. Whats your favorite countrys and what would you recommend places to visit?
Ive been about 10-15 countries. Trips have been mostly something like 3-5 nights so Im no expert at any country, but maybe I know something. My favorite is Czech. Cheap beer, cheap food and also very good of course. My first real trip I made was in Praque and me and my friend went there again last summer and visited also small town called Plzen where my friends familys exchange student lived so it was really cool to see places with a local. Id always like to meet locals, but thats kinda hard sometimes. And in place like London is there anybody local if you dont go like far away from the city Very Happy.
Other country that I liked was Belgium. So much good beers and it just had this "good place" feeling even when I didnt see that much, because I was in a festival and didnt have that much time to go anywhere. But I kinda saw something, because we traveled a lot by train and bus. The festival wasnt in Bryssels central park or anywhere Very Happy. People always say that go to Netherlands, but I was there also and Belgium won at least on that trip. Maybe because I dont smoke pot and Im not htat interested of it. Also this place seems just great: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baarle-Nassau
My trips have been all in Europe, but like in month Im going to the States. I would so much like to see like Australia and South America, but then again I would have to have much more patient to save money and then again theres so much to see in Europe also. Life is long and Im not going to die ever is my philosophy sunny

I've never been out of the country of the USA (But I have crossed the old "Mason Dixon line" a few times). My favorite places have to be Colorado, and WV. Colorado is a BEAUTIFUL state with a lot of history (Railroad, nature, etc). I sometimes think I was born to be a traveling musician, since I love to be on the road and moving.

Interesting thread. I'm not sure if I can pic my favourite country to travel to. Probably it would be Canada where we spent our honeymoon but I also love Scandinavia (though I've never been to Finland) and I very much like the north of England.

And Prague is such a beautiful city! Just make sure the visit also Vienna some day. They are very much alike in architecture and history. And Vienna is (IMHO) the best city to live in Smile

Actually my good friend is from Vienna (lives in Finland, but his folks are still there) so Im definetely going there someday. Funny that he hasnt mention that similarity, but hes propably the weirdest guy in the world and keeps it a secret that hes from Vienna (I have no idea why) so thats why. Bad thing about it is that there just arent that cheap flights going there from here. Maybe I should make it a part of some trip where I go somewhere and then just take a train. Or Interrail which I havent done yet (stupid me, would have got the ticket so much cheaper if I did it last year)

Best place I've been to is when I went to Australia back in 2006. We basically did the whole East coast thing with Brisbane, Sydney, Byron Bay, the Gold Coast etc. The place was absolutely stunning; the most picturesque place I've seen. There is so much to do there as well with all the beaches, rain forests, theme parks. Everyone was just lovely and I highly recommend it. Smile

I really love to travel :DI've been in around 10 coutries.
I just came back from the USA, the trip took 16 days. And the jetleg is killing me -.-

Firstly I travel to Santa Monica/L.A., than to Flagstaff (Grand Canyon, Monument Valley: really mindblowing), than to Las Vegas(for my 21st Birthday), than Sonora (Yosemite Park), than San Francisco( we stopped in Oakland, because my sister is a big fan of Green Day^^). Sure we rent a car.

I recommend Grand Canyon. Smile

Cool. Im going to Chicago and Minneapolis (any recommendations are welcome). And I have no idea about jetlag, because my longest plane trip is like 3 hours and London has biggest time difference(2hours). Is it really that bad?

I might be working in a covers band starting on saturday that plays on a ship that travels from Stockholm to Helsinki and back. I have never been to that part of the world.

My longest flight was 11:30 hours to L.A. and from San Francisco back was 10:30 hours.
I doesn't notice anything over there but when I came back to Luxembourg my god it's awful, I was so tired, I always felt asleep and I feel bad (maybe because of the horrible flight from Paris to Luxembourg with Luxair, my god do NEVER fly with Luxair!!!!)
At home I almost slept 12 hours ^^

My brother is going to travel to Japan this year and firstly he'll fly 6 hours and than he'll do a stop in Qatar and than he'll fly 11 hours....

Do you happen to know the ships name or the lines name? Expect a lot of shitfaced people who want to get laid...some of them still have a husband or wife waiting home. What happens at sea stays at sea is some kinda mentality for someone. And count how many times someone ask you to play Whiskey In The Jar (even if you just played it). Of course the sea is great and stuff and its not all what I just said, but those kinda trips are not my of tea. Once a year is enough or less...

One of my ex girlfriends lives in Minneapolis so I visited there a few times, it's one of my favorite places in the world. It's a big city, but not a big big city, if you know what I mean.

You definitely need to check out Electric Fetus, a great record store with tons of cheap deals on both vinyl and CD. Pizza Luce is really nice as far as fast food is concerned (Chipotle is awesome for Tex-Mex, even though it's a McDonald's owned chain restaurant). You could rent a bike and make your way around the lake, it's really pretty. There's not nearly as many things to do as in, say, New York, but people from Minnesota are some of the nicest in the world. They rival Canadians in niceness.

In the USA, I absolutely recommend Chicago. It's urban, but not overwhelmingly so. I thought everyone was pretty friendly and it has it's fair share of cool parks and museums. Also, Chicago style deep dish pizza is really good!

Los Angeles is very cool too, but you definitely need a car to get around! Not so much downtown LA, but the surrounding areas (Hollywood, Santa Monica) are really nice. It's very relaxed and sunny.

I enjoyed Arizona immensely as well. I keep saying I'm going to move there when I retire haha! And Grand Canyon is an amazing experience, it's worth the trip.

I wasn't too fond of Las Vegas, but it's without a doubt one of those places that you have to see to believe. And there are lots of cool stuff to see inside the casinos, besides actual gambling.

New York is one of my favourite places, I go there every year around Christmas time and it's insane, in a really good way. I don't think it would be a good place to live, but it's a great place to visit.

Hawaii was also an awesome trip, although I only went to Oahu, which is the main island. Honolulu, Pearl Harbor, Waikiki, it's all there and it was a really good time.

In Europe, I love London. All of South England and Wales is really pretty. Edinburgh is pretty awesome too, a lot of history there. I have never been to Central Europe because the flights are always crazy expensive for some reason, but everyone tells me Prague and Vienna are the places to go.

In Asia, I really like Singapore, but then again I had family there, so it's always a different experience. But the difference in culture is what makes any trip to Asia worth it. I've been to Bangkok, Beijing and Hong Kong and they are all different. I am going to Japan in a couple of months, it's been one of my dream trips for as long as I can remember and I'm finally doing it Smile

About jetlag, it always sucks but it sucks less if you're disciplined. For example, first day we got to Hawaii we were so tired, my boyfriend went to sleep at like 6pm, so of course by 2am he was wide awake. I held on until maybe 9pm, so I woke up at 5am, which is not too bad!

Pittsburgh is a wonderful big city. The way the neighborhoods are spaced out, it feels like a bunch of small cities to be honest. You go from Pittsburgh downtown, then to smaller urban neighborhoods, then farmland, etc. It is a beautiful place to live/work/visit. THe music scene is growing here a bit, and so is the movie filming.

just got back from costa rica the other day and had a blast there. Split time between the beaches (playa del coco) and the rain forest (arenal). The people are friendly, the food was delicious, the drinks cheap and there was so much to do activity wise that you can go there and just do different things each day. Absolutely want to go back at some point.

I just realized that the next time I get to sleep in a bed is early Wednesday morning. Next night in a bus, then in an aeroplane, then propably in Berlin airport or who knows when and where. 2 two weeks ago when I came to states the first 2-3 days was pretty weird, because of the jetlag. We needed like 2 beers and we kinda forget our names and stuff Smile. Sleep is for the weak.

And Harborcoat. You were right! Minneapolis is such a nice town Smile
