| I'm going to the Chicago show next week, and it'll be my first TGA show. Does anyone have any tips, besides the obvious "have fun"? | |

| I don't know how it is away from jersey at TGA shows, but if you're not a fan of crowed surfing and mosh pits then stand more towards the outside. | |

| Im afraid im going to have to go with the obvious because thats what its all about! Whatever comes natuarally is usually right Just do what YOU want to do, if its dancing like a complete fool, who cares? Just have fun and enjoy yourself otherwise there is no point going. And most importantly...Stay hungry, stay free and do the best you can. p.s i apologise for the uselessness of my answer and if it wasted your time. But then again, only an idiot would swim through the sh*t I write (One for you Frabbit fans out there ) | |

| btw: are mosh pits/ circle pits a common thing at TGA concerts? i've just been to the first concert of my life some weeks ago, and i really liked this stuff and as i may go to see gaslight in summer i was wondering if there are those kinda things so you have the opportunity to get somewhere near front row through a mosh pit haha | |

if it's a festival is harder , but at a regular gaslight show (for my eperience so far) they are totally tipical. now that's great i was wondering, because as what i've seen in life videos (at least in the official ones in good quality) their was always a bit of a lame crowed - people just standing still Don't trust the videos. I've seen video from shows I was at where I know the crowd was nuts but in the video they look bored. The only crowd I've been in with them where it wasn't people elbowing, crushing, crowd surfing, etc. was in Oakland. But those people were cool and danced like crazy. The very front tends to be a crush fest and then in the middle a bit further back tends to be stuff like circle pits. And you will likely get a constant stream of crowd surfers for the faster songs. So have fun, if you're into that you'll love it. I speak for the NJ, NY, Boston area.

| Or you could play it safe like me and go for the balcony. I'm short and used to arrive three hours early for shows to get right down in front, but my days of being jostled and kicked in the head are over. You'll find me in the balcony. | |

| One thing I've learned to do for shows in the city or in areas I've never been to, is to research the parking situation in advance. Like, are there lots nearby and how much will they cost you? Are they 24 hours? I go on Google Maps to check out the lay of the land too, just so I understand what kind of neighborhood I'm driving into. Meaning, is it residential area or a business district. Takes away some of the stress and intimidation of driving to a new area I'm not familiar with. | |

| More than likely cameras will be a nono. Phones with cameras are ok.
I usually go alone and get there 1-2 hours early and usually end up meeting some pretty cool folks in line. Met a couple in Philadelphia that I still talk to.
How rough the crowd is will depend a lot on what you are used to. I grew up going to some very rough shows and left with my share of bumps and brusies and cracked ribs from Ministry in Houston in 89 or 90 (I'm old). It will also depend on how big you are. At better than 6-4 and around 300 lbs, I generally don't get pushed around. Overall, their shows are about a 6 on roughness scale of 1-10. I haven't seen much malicious behavior, just folks having a good time.
Since it's winter, you need to think about your coat. The venue may or may not have a coat check. In Philadelphia, I was able to walk to my car about 30 min before and put my coat up. Unless you are a balcony dweller, you don't want to lug your coat.
I will second getting the lay of the land and parking. From the times I have been to Chicago, I would look into the train and a cab. It will likely be comparable in price and much easier than parking.
If driving, plan on getting to the area a few hours early to scout out a decent lot. Then you can grab a beer or something before the show. Parking will likely be more than $20. As mentioned, make sure they are 24 hours.
I can't say about getting a shirt before or after the show. I only bought one once.
