didn't the PBC ep come out in '06 and the album in '08?

anyway, mine would include:

The Riot Before-"Fists Buried in Pockets" (many amazing songs on here, last two were weak though)
The Loved Ones-"Build and Burn" (some very good songs, would have been better w/out a few songs)
H2O-"Nothing to Prove" (some of the catchiest songs of the year were on this)
Street Dogs-"State of Grace" (solid album throughout)
The Gaslight Anthem-"Senor and the Queen" (you didn't say anything about not including this album!)
The Hold Steady-"Stay Positive" (a few really good songs, still pretty solid overall)
Tim Barry-"Manchester" (half was amazing, half was pretty good)
Less Than Jake-"GNV FLA" (some real good songs on this)
Frank Turner-"Love, Ire & Song" (good stuff)
The Offspring-"Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace" (so much better than Splinter)
V/A-"Revival Road" (some real good songs, a little disappointed with Ben Nichols' though)
Chris Wollard & the Ship Thieves-"S/T" (wish he didn't sing so low all the time

probly forgetting a few

wow...

story time. okay so I went to wikipedia to look up 2008 in music to see if i missed any albums, and I noticed that it had pages for the 2010s, 2020s, and 2030s. I clicked the 2030s and read all the predictions and astronomical events and stuff, and I kept clicking farther and farther into the future and reading about what the future would be like, and after 15 minutes, I found myself on the page 11th millenium and beyond (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/11th_millennium). that's frickin messed up. they say the universe is either gonna rip in half or shrink back into nothingness or something...weird

also, apparently, we'll have astronauts on Mars by 2037, and Google will have all the information in the world by the year 2300...

and if we keep populating at the same rate we are now, by 2600, we'll be standing shoulder to shoulder over the entire planet, and the earth will be glowing red from our heat and energy output

and by 2200, we'll have harnessed all the power from the planet. by 5200, we'll have harnessed all the power from the solar system. by 7800, we'll have harnessed all the power in the galaxy. no more energy crisis!

i'm sorry, but i have trouble respecting TBR after their "In the Basement" song. such a completely shameless rip-off of the Ramones song

Alphabeat are awesome. Really fun simple pop songs.

This year's been really good for albums, here goes;

The Gaslight Anthem - The '59 Sound
The Gaslight Anthem - Senor And The Queen
Frank Turner - Love Song & Ire
The King Blues - Save The World, Get The Girl
The Loved Ones - Build And Burn
The Killers - Day And Age
Alphabeat - This Is Alphabeat

Also, I agree with all of Jukebox Romeo's choices.

Also good;

The Bronx - The Bronx III
Snow Patrol - A Hundred Million Suns
MCMT - Oracular Spectacular
Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night
Tech N9ne - (forgot the damn name of the album)

In the Basement is indeed a rip-off, but the song is quite catchy...

Forgot to add my favourite 7"'s:

The Apers - AOTU single
The Apers/The 20 Belows split
Teenage Bottlerocket/Broadway Calls split
The Gaslight Anthem - Senor and the Queen
The Varsity Weirdos - High School Teen Party
The Loblaws - Won't Stop

I have seen more concerts this year than in a long time, but I did not buy many new records this year... so "hear" is my list of records that I got this year

1. Toots and the Maytals "The Best of Toots and the Maytals"
2. Johnny Cash "American V"
3. Bruce Springsteen "Magic"

...hmm that really is the best I can think of off the top of my head

forgot one: "Tales of the Last Great Midwestern Hero"-Max Stern

I can never run out of good things to say about this guy. Great songs, great lyrics, great guitar playing. His lyrics hit home to me more than almost any other artist, considering we both live in Cleveland, he's just a year older than me, and he sings about many of the things I feel but could never articulate as well as he does.

He recently played a show with Tom Gabel as well. Definitely check this guy out, and his band, The Skatastrophes.

This album is up for free on his Myspace, btw. www.myspace.com/maxstern
