I guess some of you may have heard of this band seeing as they've been Gaslight's main competition on iTunes this week, but I couldn't see a topic already so here goes. They have two albums and an EP out, first album was great, all bright synth pop. New one is similar but 100x better.

I was ridiculously excited for Gaslight first, and then Passion Pit not so much second as they were both out this week, but I can't stop listening to 'Gossamer'. It's such a sad album lyrically as it's autobiographical, and the lead singer is currently in hospital trying to sort out his mental health issues. The album breaks my heart every listen.

I like a lot of their old songs, but I've been so caught up with Handwritten that I haven't checked the new stuff out. I'll pull it up on spotify later. I had no idea about their singer, how sad.

That's awful about the lead singer. I hope he works it out. That kind of shit is no laughing matter. I'll have to check out the album. I've honestly never heard anything by them before, I just had a friend say I should check them out.

Story about it here, http://pitchfork.com/features/cover-story/8893-rite-of-passion/

But yeah, it's so sad. I really hope he pulls through it.

That's one of the most difficult things to go through in the world, if not the most difficult. I send all my best to him and I hope he can reach a more stable place in the future.

Passion Pit are fantastic, Manners was a great album but what they've done with Gossamer is brilliant. They've taken that kind of electronic pop music from their first record and properly fine-tuned it. The juxtaposition between the happy music and quite deep, upsetting lyrics works really well, definitely recommend people listening to it.
