She had been dating the guy for like 10 years so it wasn't really a surprise that they got married, it's just weird that she didn't tell anyone!

i don't "believe" in marriage much, but if i ever got married, i think it would be way more romantic to just decide you wanted to get married & go elope or go to the justice of the peace or whatever. rather than planning this huge ceremony & everyone gets stressed out & it costs a ton of money. i think people go a little crazy with weddings and don't really think about the being married part.

Oh yeah, I totally agree! Now that I think about it, that's kind of her personality as well, so it makes sense!

The very idea of marriage in my twenty year old mind scares the living shit out of me. The cliche really does become true once you leave high school/primary school...EVERYONE fucking marries each other and has babies. It all scares me to death. And I love kids! Just not now, absolutely not.

oh my god! seriously! when i moved out of state for college (i am so dating myself here), i joined myspace & saw how many people from my old school were married and/or had kids and i was SHOCKED. granted, there were lots of Mormons at my high school, but still. i still feel too young to have kids

I have a feeling I'm going to be gray and still awesome when I have kids. I want to be out of college and know that I'm not going to have to fight to live. I plan on being the funnest old guy EVER.

i think that's a good way to look at it! i know if i had a kid, i would love it to death, but that is a lifetime responsibility, you oughta have fun and do all the things you want to before you take that responsibility on!

also, all my friends who had really young parents were usually the ones whose parents were more strict. so that sucks.

It's a whole other thing about experiences. At age twenty, I feel like I have very little to say in the grand scheme of things, but after having to fight through the prime years of life and knowing what can happen in that time is uber important to me. I love the idea of my kids looking back at photos from how old I am now and how they couldn't believe that I was the way I was. I do, however, plan on taking my kids to angry hardcore punk shows if that's what they dig. Hopefully I'll still have a deep appreciation for crazy things like that when I'm in my middle years.

I definitely agree. Older parents have always seemed much more grounded and straight up awesome. Even the new parents these days that are my age are.....well, fucking scary.
