It's pretty much the same feeling as not appreciating a myriad of other bland and musically anonymous bands and artists. I do respect his DIY ethics though.

I know that John does this just to get a reaction, but it makes me think he's just being a dick.

Can you really argue that his music is in any way daring or innovative, though?

| I'm not emotional about it, I just don't think anyone cares what you have to say about Frank Turner if you're gonna be, as loazis said, "uttering crap" about him. | |

Can you really argue that his music is in any way daring or innovative, though? Since when is that an essential factor in determining whether an artist is good? Even it were, I think he's quite unique, yes. I don't know an artist that writes the style of lyrics he does, let alone combine it with his sometimes-songwriter, sometimes-full-band rock songs. And yes, he is definitely daring. More daring than Brian I'd say, who can be heard saying for the sixtieth time that he was finally able to write songs about himself even though second song he ever wrote about his ex or another lost lover who he doesn't dare to name. Frank doesn't use mysterious conceits to get his meaning across, he just sings what he wants to sing. "Glory Hallelujah" is just one example of that. If there's one thing you can say about Frank, it's that he has balls. You don't have to like him and I can't believe I'm arguing not only about music but on the goddamn Internet at that, but hey, you do what you do.

You don't have to like him and I can't believe I'm arguing not only about music but on the goddamn Internet at that, but hey, you do what you do. I never said it is. I said that I'm not a fan because of those qualities (Or lack thereof). I got this very same reaction the first time I mentioned I can't really get into his music. "What the hell is wrong with you" etc, and I don't think there's anything wrong with discussing a band or artist. That's where we're here for, no? I don't care that you or anybody else is a fan of his music. Hell, I wish I were. The more the merrier. As my taste in music has been periodically trashed before (And I would expect as much being that we're on a forum about music), I don't think it's uncalled for that I'm given the chance to discuss some of the music I don't understand. Anyway...Yes, I agree that his lyrics are great. That was never part of my argument though, I'm talking solely about the music behind the words, not the words themselves. Great lyrics are a great quality alone, but they have to be paired up with great music too, and to me they're not. That's what, to me, is bland and uninspiring.
