You guys are so sweet! After I posted that message and gave the girls a quick Spanish lesson (we played Spanish Bingo which they love for some reason), I told them we needed to blow off some steam, so I turned my iPad on and we danced around the house to Old White Lincoln, We're Getting a Divorce, and Baba O'Riley. We also wore big floppy hats and shook pompoms. I'm not sure why! So yeah, my morning turned out pretty good after all! Now I will go post baby and dog pictures like Steph requested.

THANKS! I try really hard to be the best whatever-I-am for the girls. At least if nothing else, I am exposing them to the coolest music around. My official title is nanny, but I also fill the roles of homeschool teacher, chauffeur, personal assistant, surrogate parent, and house manager. I have my degree in early childhood education and teach the girls more in my time with them than they learn in school, but according to my tax forms, I'm a nanny.

You oughta find yourself a husband because your kids will be lucky to have a mother like you. That's the best compliment I could have ever received. THANK YOU!!! If I'm half as good of a mom as my mom is, then I will be a huge success. Until then, I have five little kids in my life ("my girls" and my nieces and nephew) that I give tons of love and attention to, so right now I'm here for them.

Shoutout to Deb for stepping in on the Ian thread. Never imagined anyone would have a gripe about him joining. I will stay out of there. Opinions:yay! But Gaslight means a lot to me and I get what Gordon was saying. People who nitpick are like poison and can turn your opinion on the band in some ways. Would rather enjoy a band for what it is than notice faults I wouldn't have otherwise. Now I'm like IS Brian's voice strained? I don't want to analyze them like that! It's the same in the officeplace- I want to judge for myself how someone is. I don't want to hear from some malcontent about how someone sucks, etc.
THIS! Thanks, Andrew! Yep. This is all pretty much said in my other post but people are entitled to their opinions (good or bad). And i think as long as someone doesn't cross a line of personal attacks on the band (I.e to the effect of : Ian should go burn in hell ) Then its fine. But my other point was just say what you have to say and move on.Because we've all seen from jimmy that the negative comments can get annoying.I'm all for people openly sharing their views (good or bad) But don't post it like 30 times!. Personally, i was more of getting irritated that members started being severly sarcastic and passive aggressive to each other. I mean someone threw out post count and join date as an argument. - which is just stupid.

| I think all of us who have been around for awhile are so used to this being a friendly environment where people can share their opinions without attacking anyone (the band included) or being attacked. All of a sudden the opposite started happening. We all love the band and the music so much, it's easy to take offense when negative comments are thrown out there.
What bothered me more than anything though, was when things got personal, like telling people how to raise their children. That's just not okay, and I'm glad that you and Alexander both stepped in and told people it cool it. Hopefully they will listen!

I wish this board had an ignore function.
Are Pearl Jam fans particularly aggravating? I feel like there's been a lot of arguing on the board. I find myself in the middle of one without realizing it sometimes! I get having opinions but when your favorite band is being picked apart, it does stir up some emotion and the desire to want to kick the ass of someone who sticks to a point and can't even back up what they're saying with actual evidence. #IanComments
Johan- Appreciative of the attempt to make us laugh. But dead animals, even seemingly dead animals, are never funny.
Ilaria- Earthquake Life sounds SCARY. I feel the need to slightly defend myself here, since I see now that several people have just been going off on me in here. I have no "agenda", I'm not nitpicking. I was commenting specifically on a major change to Gaslight's touring lineup and whether it is a good thing. I don't believe in the course of that discussion I attacked anyone, and I'm not the only one who felt this way. I did back up my opinion with one video, but as I said, I don't have a desire to nitpick every video on youtube. In terms of the other thread, I apologized for the DCFS comment and said I was being hyperbolic. I then had a perfectly normal, rational discussion with "fullcollapse" about whether or not it was a good idea to bring a 2 week old baby to a concert. As a parent of 3 to a first time parent, I did think I had some insight and suggestions that maybe helpful. IN the end I said "best of luck to you and your baby". If anyone can find a post where I personally attacked anyone, I'll gladly apologize for it. I don't believe I did that, and it wasn't my intention to. I don't want to be seen as a troll or anything like that, as it couldn't be farther from the truth. Admittedly I haven't posted a ton on the board over the years, other than adding some guitar tabs, but I'm excited about the new albumi, the new tour and came on to discuss things. One comment regarding the bands need to rehearse (in a thread where Brian said they needed more practice) and questioning the need for Ian to play on every song, spawned my influx of posts. I had a position and I wanted to discuss it. If people can't handle someone suggesting that maybe something related to the band wasn't the "greatest thing ever" then avoiding discussions that may not be 100% positive is probably a good idea. I find message boards to be more interesting and valuable when discussions can occur on both sides of an argument, in addition to the general positive threads. I'm done posting about Ian, I said that in the other thread. I've met Ian several times, I think he's a nice guy and i have no problem with him personally. Hopefully his musical contributions become more vital and valuable. Here's to the new album and the shows this summer, hope everyone has a great time.

I saw that you apolgized and I really don't want to argue, it's just that that comment hit me hard and stuck in my head. I'm a teacher/nanny and have made it my career to take care of children. I have also had experience with DCFS and a member of my extended family, so bringing that up, even in a hyperbolic way, crossed a line in my book. I might not be a parent but I know a lot about raising kids, and while I agree with you that taking a newborn to a concert is not wise, it's not my place to tell her that. I have been taking care of other people's children since I was 11 years old, and there are certain lines that just shouldn't be crossed. Just my professional opinion. Okay, enough of this, because I really don't want to fight with anyone and I have absolutely nothing against you. I agree with your last statement 100% - "Here's to the new album and the shows this summer, hope everyone has a great time."
