| Special guest is probably not Brian Fallon, or Gaslight. I mean, I thought they were trying to get away from the whole "Bruce" image and be their own band. | |

Bruce tends not to have support acts. But he does have surprise guests on occasions. I saw him in September and he brought and Tom Morello and Eddie Vedder for a few songs. I know that, but I've never actually seen 'w/Support & Special Guests' printed on a SPringsteen ticket before. Strange.
Also Tom Morellos meant to be filling in for Miami Steve on the Australian leg of the tour! It's impossible to replace Steve, but Morello will come pretty close. His solo on the Ghost of Tom Joad is one of my favorite solos ever.

| Yeah, so Bruce will be the first artist to play the Leeds Arena. I've been waiting for a venue this size in Leeds so we can get artists of this calibre for nearly 20 years. And he asks specifically to be the first to play it. And i've got tickets.
I'm so happy about this, it's unbelievable.

| How Bruce Springsteen's 'Born to Run' almost died in Kutztown
Rocker was so unhappy after first hearing finished album that he tossed it into Kutztown hotel swimming pool. Then he drove to New York to kill the project, according to new book.
On a July evening in 1975, a rising musician who had critics fawning but hadn't yet captured the fancy of the general public was at a Kutztown hotel during a two-night stand at the state college.
His manager appeared at the hotel room door, carrying a fresh test copy of the just-completed album the singer had labored over for an agonizing year and a half. The artist gathered his band and dropped the acetate disc on a portable record player he carried with him on the road to hear the fruits of his labor, believing it would be the breakthrough his career needed.
The singer was so dissatisfied with what he heard that he snatched the disc from the turntable, stalked out to the hotel courtyard and flung it into the swimming pool. He then piled his management team into a car for a drive back to New York to scrap the project.

| Judi was watching an interview with an author of an interesting book that includes some pop culture examinations, including New Jersey’s very own Bruce Springsteen. The book is called “The Kindergarden of Eden: How the Modern Liberal Thinks” by Comedian Evan Sayet. There is a section of the book that discusses Bruce Springsteen and examines Springsteen’s role as “the working man’s troubadour.” http://nj1015.com/new-book-questions-whether-bruce-springsteen-is-really-for-the-working-man/ | |

Specially the ones who only listen to Springsteen, which is clearly not anyone on this forum Ha-are you a member of the BTX? I am not. I check the Backstreets news page pretty regularly though. My post this time is mostly a reaction to the comments on a Josh Ritter Hangin' Out on E Street video where they call him an artist who makes a living off other people's songs, even though that completely isn't the case. Sad to say it isn't the first time I've seen stuff like this Like, Springsteen's lore is so huge that people forget that it's the music that's important

| Don't get me started on BTX. That's why I love it here, You people are actually some of the nicest on the internet, and have remembered it is about THE MUSIC, and the love of a band/genre of music. Unlike at BTX where you are ridiculed if you like newer bands, or just become someone's joke. | |

| I saw Bruce first time live in Hannover last week. He was awesome. Playing 3 and a half hours, making jokes, drinking beer, dancing, playing, talking and singing with fans... And that in an Age of 62! Respect!
But what I really wanted to say is, that he reminds me so much of Brian! Now I think, after seeing TGA four times live, that Brian is studying him a lot and covers a lot of different moves and gesticulations. Its for example the way he is standing in front of the microfone, the way he is closing his eyes while singing. I know, every singer is singing and acting on a stage, but I mean HOW both do this is really very similar.. Just my opinion. Just thought a few times that I see the old version of Brian. But, anyhow, it was awesome.

I usually watch Eddie Vedder and remark at how much Brian steals his moves, haha. That's great you got to see Bruce live! I've seen him 7 times since 2003 and the show gets better every time! (unless you account for the loss of Clarence and Danny, but even with that, the show hasn't lost a step, miraculously).

| I used to see the Bruce thing back in 2009. Not so much anymore. Ever since Brian turned his attention to Pearl Jam he's mimicked a lot of Eddie's stage moves/presence. | |

| Springsteen’s style might seem more altruistic, but performers who undercharge their fans can paradoxically reap higher profits than those who maximize each ticket price. It’s a strategy similar to the one employed by ventures like casinos and cruise ships, which take a hit on admission prices but make their money once the customers are inside. Concert promoters can overcharge on everything from beer sales to T-shirts, and the benefits of low-priced tickets can accrue significantly over the years as loyal fans return. In part, this explains why artists like Springsteen and Petty are content to undercharge at the gate while others, perhaps wary of their own staying power, are eager to capitalize while they can.
But by leaving money on the table, Springsteen and his ilk might be doing their fans an inadvertent disservice. Jared Smith, the president of Ticketmaster North America, told me that the artists who charge the least tend to see the most scalping. Springsteen and others have angrily denounced scalping at their shows, but their prices are guaranteeing the very existence of that secondary market, which has become ever more sophisticated over the years. Many scalpers now use computer programs to monopolize ticket buying when seats go on sale, which forces many fans to buy from resellers. One of the surest ways to eliminate scalping, Smith told me, is to charge a more accurate price in the first place.

| On a completely unrelated topic, can Bruce go back to playing the Magic album and include a speech during every show about how Obama's rolling back of civil liberties and illegal wiretapping is "simply unamerican?" Or is it not acceptable to criticize the person he supported for the last two election cycles who campaigned for transparency and restoration of civil liberties like he did the Bush Administration for taking those things away? For the record, I am not a conservative/republican, more liberal leaning, I am just outraged by what has been exposed the last couple days with Obama's support of the NSA's Orwellian monitoring of US citizens. I realize a post does absolutely nothing, and I hope that we (Generation Y), the same group who showed up in record numbers the last two elections to get Obama will begin protesting. | |
