To be in the video - please do the following:
1) Arrive at the Stone Pony at 5PM Wed, May 9th (plan on being there for about 4 hours)
2) Bring TWO forms of ID
3) Do not wear any clothing with logos (brand names, band names, etc.)

If there are any additional details they'll be sent out on Tuesday.

Realization: the number of shirts I have with a logo/band name on it far outweigh the number that have nothing on them.

Got my email too. So basically the only way I can be there is if I can get out of my exam that day.
I'm drafting an email to my professor now explaining what's going on, but I'm trying to word it very carefully so it sounds more...important than it actually is. He only allows makeups in the case of emergencies, so I'm thinking of saying I have an audition for an acting role or something (stretching it, but...).

Sounds perfectly plausible to me.

Well, the Pony fits about 800 people so I guess they want to have it pretty full. This is gonna be fun. I hope the bar will open for business.

Looks like it;s going to be a rainy day on Wednesday. Looking forward to this...should be a pretty neat experience.

It says to be arrive at 5 which means nothing will probably start until at least 6:00. If I didn't have to work I'd probably get there a little early, but 5 is the earliest I will be able to get there.

Who knows? I would assume so, but keep in mind there are probably a ton of people who just sent the email not knowing if they could even go. Or maybe they wanted to go but life will get in the way between now and Wednesday night. Either way, I'm doing everything I can to make sure I get in.

I don't think many people will be able to get there much before 5:00. Also, if the RSVPs were far in excess of the available capacity, I doubt they would be sending confirmation emails to everyone willy nilly (unless they want to invite a PR headache).

I also think that aside from us diehards, standing around for 4 hours watching Gaslight lip-synch and pretend to play is not something that thousands of people are dying to do.

To be honest, as excited as I am to go on Wednesday, it would not be worth if I had to get there hours early and wait on line.

This post just screams "voice of reason" to me haha. You're probably right, but standing around for 4 hours watching Gaslight lip-sync and mime sounds awesome to me, even when phrased like that haha.

I think I'm approaching it like a show too, but for me that doesn't exactly mean getting there 4 hours early either. I agree that some people might think twice about taking part or may have a life event that prevents them from coming. Some people might have emailed that had no intention of going too.

I also wondered if they're doing this indoors or outdoors. Cus if they do it outdoors, they can fit a lot more people plus it allows room for cameras to roam around. Not sure if the outdoor stage is set up now (I saw Social D last year May 20th I think so it could be).

I'll tell you what is NOT worth the trouble- being part of a crowd to see a band do a TV show taping. I did that once for Carson Daly and it was absolutely ridiculous. Hours of trouble just to see two 3-min songs played. The rest of the time (at least an hour and a half plus whatever wait time to get into the studio) was spent waiting in Rosie O'Donnell/Conan's studio.

Right. I think part of the enjoyment for this thing in particular is the whole atmosphere. In all likelihood the vast majority of people who will show will be die-hard fans, and it's always cool meeting people. Plus it's at the Pony, which is just a great place. In general, I think the appeal more lies in the freaks like us who have seen them half a dozen times and check this forum constantly for news on Handwritten.

The only thing I'm wondering though is how many people would show up without emailing, like because they saw someone mention it on tumblr or something. That could make for some unexpected numbers. You're right though about it probably being mostly diehards. They might actually play it though not just lip sync and mime. I know when Springsteen did the video for Murder Incorporated they did it in a club of some kind and just played it over and over and over. Then they were nice enough to play a few other songs afterwards. Who knows.

I also hope it's not a situation where they turn people away. I would write the e-mail address and ask, but I'm sure I'll get the auto-response.

Another possibility is the shoot isn't actually taking place at the Stone Pony. That could just be their headquarters where they check people in or something.
