| Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/t/the+gaslight+anthem/45_21018315.html
Song tuned 1 step down D G C F A D
F on verse played high, power chord on the 8th fret. Chorus played low, power chord on the 1st fret. I assume you know what that means without me tabbing it out.
Intro/riff (repeat as needed) --------------- --------------- --5--5---5-5 -3--3---3-3 5--3--5--3 ---------------
F Dm
F Have you seen my hands? Dm Just look at 'em shake. F and the song just keeps on repeating, Dm drop the needle again. F and I dance with your ghost, Dm oh, but that ain't the way… Bb C I can't move on and I can't stay the same.
and all my friends say…
Dm Bb F C "Hey hey, turn the record over. Dm Bb F C Hey hey, and I'll see you on the flip side. F C Dm Bb There you go, turn the key and engine over. F C Dm Bb Let her go, let somebody else lay at her feet."
Repeat riff
F Have you seen my heart, Dm have you seen how it bleeds? F And the nights are so long, baby, Dm Out here in the deep. F the tick, ticking of hours, lonely. Dm I hear the alarm Bb C I used to hear when she would sleep in my arms.
But "better sense" says…
Dm Bb F C "Hey hey, turn the record over. Dm Bb F C Hey hey, and I'll see you on the flip side. F C Dm Bb There you go, turn the key and engine over. F C Dm Bb Let her go, let somebody else lay at her feet."
Solo. Chords: Dm A Bb C x2
Riff
and all my friends say,
Dm Bb F C "Hey hey, turn the record over. Dm Bb F C Hey hey, and I'll see you on the flip side. F C Dm Bb There you go, turn the key and engine over. F C Dm Bb Let her go, let somebody else lay at her feet."
Outro Chords: F Bb repeat end on Dm
Where you used to be…here with me.

| I had attempted to place the chords above the lyrics, but the formatting got hosed when I posted. You'll just have to follow along for the changes. | |

| You can also put a capo on the 3rd fret and play: Verse: C, Am, C, Am, C, Am, G, F, G Chorus: Am-F-C-G(x2) C, G, Am, F Bridge: Am, Em, F, G there are some more nuances in the verses you can hear when you're playing along involving G and B, but that's the gist of it | |

| Yea that works too, but given Brian's predilection to D tuning, i'm fairly certain that's how he plays it. I tuned my guitar to D before I even tried figuring out the chords, safe bet with Gaslight. | |

definitely i'm just too lazy to tune down my guitar lol Definitely. i figured out most Gaslight songs using a Capo on the 3rd fret first, then figured them out the regular way too Here are some covers I've done, there is a fair mix of both D tuned (some C tuned) and capo on the 3rd fret. http://soundcloud.com/bakerfall/sets/gaslight-anthem-covers/

| He plays it in Eb, tuned a full step down with capo 1 (or just half step down), in a E chord progression. EDIT: I originally said "D chord progression," but I get mixed up sometimes since I have my guitar tuned to D standard.

| correct me if i'm wrong, but he plays with capo 1 in whole step down tuning, so it's half step down, but he plays all barre chords, so it can be played in standard, and the chord progression is D Eb Bb Cm, right? | |

| There is already a bunch of covers of this on youtube and a pretty good guitar pro on ultimate-guitar.com. | |

| Download tux guitar. It's open source software that let's you open files like power tabs and guitar pro. Go to ultimate-guitar.com and try those files (they show you the tab but also sync it up with audio so you can easily figure out things like strumming/pacing).
Watch some YouTube covers or maybe some videos of the band.
Other than that, just keep practicing. There's really no good way for someone to textually describe a strumming pattern.
