I need your help UK people!

Hey dudes and dudettes.

As there are many English people on here (I don't know if Irish too?) you got to help me decide on where I will go for my last year of studying.
The options are Durham and Dublin. My heart and stomach definately say Dublin, but that'd be more expensive for me.

So basically, if any of you know Durham or have been to Durham please tell me what kind of town it is. Cause I have been hearing that there is next to nothing to do there. And of course that is a factor too

My advice would be if your heart and stomach say Dublin then go there!! I made the mistake of following my brain when it came to choosing where to study and that did not end well. Then I thought about what i really wanted and things turned out for the better.

(not from the uk but probably going to study there so yeah I am curious sorry sorry)

if it's not ridiculously expensive just go where you planned! what are you going to study?!

I tend to follow my gut instinct on most things - and as Holland says if your heart and stomach are saying Dublin then that may way well be your answer?

Where abouts in Dublin?

The only advice I can give...if it IS Dublin you want to do, make sure you have saved plenty of cash, as Dublin is VERY expensive for rent, groceries, booze etc. If you want to do Dublin, then there's no use in being crippled due to not having some forward planning for it.

Holland I think people don't follow their guts enough. It's like my imaginary pro and con list says almost everything pro Durham, but on the con side is "but i wanna go to Dublin!"

I hate that it is a money issue. It's not ridicously expensive but it is. Especially since I spent all my savings on my education so far already. So Klown, I don't have a plan for afterwards, then maybe I should just take the rational road this time.

I would say talk to some of the Irish folk on here in regards to costs(yeah, yeah, I know, my location says N.Ireland...mineeefield) As I live in N.Ireland, we have more of the UK pricing system, and any time I cross the border, the prices shock me as to how much more expensive it is. I know I'm going with the rational thought as opposed to everyone that says follow your heart. Maybe that's just the old cynic starting to come out in me. Besides...gigs in Dublin are insanely dear compared to the UK.

Durham is a great uni. The town itself isn't massive, there are still places to go, but if you want a big night out Newcastle isn't too far away.
I can't offer an insight about Dublin I'm afraid.

Dublins a brilliant city, high cost of living but in terms of arcitecture, history, literature, nightlife, music scene .etc.etc. its amazing.

I THINK you made the right choice, maybe less distractions as well. Sure, you can take a weekend trip over to Dublin anyway

I definately will! Edinburgh too where I originally wanted to study. But they didn't take me. So I'm gonna have to go there and start a riot or something for compensation...
