The show was awesome. It was Tim Barry at Asbury Lanes- my first time there! Only thing that sucked was it was a pretty dark environment lighting-wise and this photographer girl (not me) using her flash every 5 seconds, blinding everyone around her. My eyes hurt! And why are the annoying ones always hipster-looking with glasses? I don't know!

I'm obsessed because I'm trying to find an easy way to get to the festival and it appears there is none. It's like an exercise in futility. Also annoyed cus ordinarily Asbury Park is somewhat of a breeze to deal with and the idea of having to take a 20 minute shuttle or a train that drops you off literally a mile away blows. Boo hoo.

I took this driving on Asbury Avenue on my way out of Asbury Park tonight because I was listening to SOS and thought "Did they fall down by the wayside?" when I saw that sign. AND SO I TOOK A DAMN PICTURE.

That chick with the flash (see a few posts ago)- she probably got better shots than me, but I just can't bring myself to be so f'ing obnoxious at shows. I hope that doesn't bury me in the end. A big time photographer told me to basically be myself and that you didn't have to be an ass to get good shots. So I'll go with that! Your thoughts as a photographer?

hahah, no advice here, i'm in the point of wondering where you start again, i've been out of photography so long. but i love it. but i totally understand not wanting to be an ass just to get a shot!

See that's it- where do you draw the line? I mean she was flashing every 5 seconds. I don't know how the performers didn't drop kick her camera down one of the bowling lanes. A lot of times I don't think flash is a good idea in a concert setting. I don't know. I'm still learning what's good and bad.

i'm still learning too, toots! i thought i heard something about writers/photograhers only being allowed to capture the first couple songs of a show.

It all depends. Big timer shows (arenas, theaters) usually allow 3 songs from the pit and no flash. Sometimes you can get away with continuing to shoot from the crowd, sometimes they tell you to stop. In clubs (like tonight) anything frickin' goes. But overall, I like no flash just because the results are better. And I don't blind anyone. Kiss my grits, flashers.
