| not sure if this is the right place to post this.. if not, feel free to move it, mods. anyway, i just got my new telecaster, and i wanna play some gaslight tunes on it, and i know they tune their guitars down a whole step. i don't like my strings too floppy, so im wondering if anyone knows what kind/gauge strings brian and alex use? i apologize if this has been discussed around here before. i did a quick search but i didn't find anything. thanks, everyone! | |

| I keep my guitar tuned down a whole step with just standard strings, to play gaslight, and they seem perfectly fine ( ill just use a capo when I want to play standard)
Im no expert but, my guess, it could be your strings have already settled in standard tuning. So down tuning makes it loose. Maybe try restringing it and leaving it a whole step down?
Hopefully other people can offer better advice. | |

| Well 9s are pretty much the lightest electric guitar strings I've seen. So try some 10s, maybe? Really I don't think they should be all that loose if you have the guitar set up properly. If you plan on keeping it downtuned all the time you might want to take it into a shop and get a set up. | |
