Hello, me and a bunch of friends re thinking of going a little further than the UK for once and finding a good festival in outer Europe. I know Sziget is supposed to be pretty good. Does anyone have any recommendations??

Hey man, I'm going to Groezrock this year which will be my first European festival... solid lineup with Menzingers, Rancid, Gallows, Refused, Thrice, Dave Hause, Hot Water Music etc. Only £100 for the 2 day event. The flights weren't that cheap though.

Hmm for me that would be great but my friends aren't big fans of punk and hardcore so they would refuse to go there.

Primavera festival in Barcelona is supposed to be really good (and great weather almost guaranteed) .
Lineup this year looks cool with The XX, Refused, Death Cab For Cutie, Cure, Bjork, The Drums, Beach House etc etc. More varied lineup for all tastes:

Couldn't go wrong with Roskilde in Denmark. Bruce Springsteen and The Cure are both playing.
Or Rock Werchter in Belgium.

Sooo anyone been to Pukkelpop apart from 2011? It looks the favourite so far. I have heard that the ticket allows you to use the trains for free, is that a myth? Anything else about it i should know?

yepp you can use trains (and buses if I remember correctly) for free, that's true but i think that is only limited to airport-kiewit and back

I think it's for trains too, they just guarantee you can get to the festival for free

You get a free trainticket to go to and from the festival, but I'm not sure the Brussels International Airport is included (everyone traveling from and to the airport has to pay an extra tax because they're building an expensive new railway there). If not, you just buy a trainticket from the Airport to Brussels Central Station (you have to travel over Brussels or Leuven anyway), and from there you can use your Pukkelpopticket for the train. It's the train to Genk, one every hour Smile In Kiewit, you can just walk to the festival (it's a ten minute walk, you just follow the stream).

If you have any other Pukkelpop related questions, fire away! Best festival I know, and the line-up is really good so far!

That's the one thing I fear most about festivals. Burning tents on the last night of festivals is not fun.

Ticket is to the station of Hasselt, from there on there are free busses from and to the festival. Camping is across the street.
