| Hey guys
So, I have found a newfound passion in finding and collecting audio cassette tapes ... just bought pink floyd (the wall), anthrax (attack of the killer b's) and The Offspring (Smash).
Partly it is just for fun, a good and healthy hobby ... but I also have an old car! And I enjoy the nostaglia of tapes ... ;-)
Anyone else so inclined?

| Man, i grew up with an operation ivy, Energy, tape. I have no clue what happened to it I was young in the 90s when tapes were still around, but lucky enough to have older brothers who would listen to music on them. So i remember using them. It was always a hassle though finding every song. Hows the sound quality? i havent listen to tapes in forever.... | |

| My brother started collecting them too! I don't have the patience to start another kind of collection. CD and vinyl is enough for me! |

You know what, I actually have a few cassettes, myself. I forgot I had them! I got two of them for free at a rummage sale a few years ago, Cheap Trick- Lap Of Luxury, and The Beatles- Part 1. And then my grandma gave me this tape of Finnish songs that I haven't listened to yet, Vanhaa Kultaa- Old Gold from Finland. |

| I actually got excited when I saw the "cassette tapes" title, haha. I grew up in the 80s, so I had tons of cassettes. Mostly embarrassing stuff I loved as a little kid, like Paula Abdul and New Kids on the Block, but I have some of my mom's cool tapes like Springsteen, the Eagles, The Rolling Stones, classic stuff like that. They have a neat nostalgic value and they sound pretty good too! | |

| I have a quite a collection too. Probably around ~125 cassettes but all stored in boxes. Mostly Punk and heavy metal from the 80's and early 90's (i remember i switched to CD's in 92) and pretty much all of Led Zeppelin and the Doors and a little bit of Rap. If i could find a decent tape player, i would probably get them out of the boxes find them a sweet spot right by my records

| Also, i have a LOT of mixtapes. When i started to drive, in 94-95, CD players for cars were quite expensive, so we sticked to tape players so we just did mixes from our CD's.
It was an hassle to find a song but you know what? We didn't care about that cause it was not important, we just let the tape play from start to finish...just like a vinyl.
Our relationship with music was quite different back then...

| i used to make mix-tapes too, i had all the misfits (danzig era) on tape and i could fit every song onto a 90 minute tape ;-) my friends and i always made mix-tapes for each other, and we would listen to it from front to back as well.
today i grabbed the doors soundtrack, shout at the devil, skid row, soundgarden (superunknown), megadeth (countdown) and another one that i now forget! ;-)

Those are kind of weird words for a four year old to sing, huh? I even danced to this song at my preschool dance recital! Oh the 80s....such a wonderfully weird decade!

that and careless whisper ;-)
found the ultimate cassette shop here yesterday, bought 24 tapes, including some pistols, the cult, guns n roses, ministry, body count, rhcp ... ;-) and a portable cassette carrying case!
then, for a meager 25 bucks, bought an old school stereo with 2 cassette players, and a remote control for the cd player.

| doing some tape dubbing now - my favorite album of all time is PLATINUM BLONDE'S 'Standing In The Dark' - got it now on vinyl, cassette, and MP3 - but the cassette was a huge find for me! I am dubbing it to keep the original nice and safe! ;-)
tell me what you got? | |
