On a punknews post someone claim that they are no longer working with him, has anyone heard anything about this?

I remember the interview. It was a video from one of the festivals in Europe where they said they just wanted to try something new after working with Ted so much.

Good, maybe now we'll actually hear Brian's guitar.

I loved that vintage sound that thye put on Brians voice for The 59' Sound album. Something Id like to hear again and Im sure in an interview Brian said that the next album may be similar to that album. Then again he says a lot of things...

I think the '59 Sound voice effect is nauseating and annoying.

They should have Brett Gurewitz produce. Indestructible (Rancid) sounds amazing.

Fo sho!

I have to strain to hear Brian's guitar parts, and then I end up hearing Alex R's melodic noodlin' and Alex L's bass lines. I wants some good rhythm guitar that punches and rings!

Yeah, that slap echo on the vocals was kind of annoying after a bit. Infact when I first picked up the 59 Sound, I was kind of dissappointed in the fact that the rhythm/Brian's guitar was drowned out and all I could hear were forced sounding slap echo vocals and cure-like melodic noodling. It was more or less my first experience with TGA and I wasn't sure if I could get past that stuff...eventually I did.

Speaking of Brandon Flowers, when I played American Slang for my wife when I first got it, and after the song American Slang, she said they kind of sound like the Killers.

Ive written a blog post about these flowers/ fallon comparisons. I like The Killers but I much prefer the rougher edge in Brians voice. I can't believe some of you didn't like that effect. Fair enough though, each to their own. I can't see them using that effect again anyway so i wouldnt worry.

Don't get me wrong, I love slapback on vocals, but for some reason it didn't seem to mesh to well with what was going on in the 59 Sound

The '59 Sound is my least favourite TGA album because of its prodcution, although the songs themselves are brilliant. On the other hand, in Elsie Ted Hutt produced the for me best sounding album I've heard in over a decade.

I almost feel this same way. I think the content of the songs themselves are what saves The 59 Sound. I need to give Elsie a few more good listens before I can disect the production value of it all.

Hopefully in another few years or so the 10 th anniversary/deluxe 59 Sound will be released in a better sounding mix...wishful thinking that it's all post production/master mix fix! Rolling Eyes

I think Brians voice has the most soul on The 59 Sound than any of the others

Everyone I try to introduce TGA to say "LIke the Killers then?" Frustrates me Sad

I don't really have a problem with the production on any of the TGA albums. I like that each one has a different sound to it. The vocal effect never bothered me either. I don't really even notice it anymore.
