Without a doubt. I hadn't heard of them until High Violet came out, and that didn't convince me straight away and I forgot about them for a while. And then I listened to Boxer and I was converted.

| Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers has Lucky You so it gets a ton of points. I still think they've managed to improve with every album even if the older stuff still contains some of their best songs. (Of course, there isn't a bad song of theirs. Debating their best album is about as pointless as debating the best Gastlight or Brand New album. There isn't a wrong answer)
But yeah, in my opinion High Violet is probably their most accessible album. Start there and work backwards.

I was up till 6 am to see their live streaming from coachella and it was immense, then I saw them last year and I realized they are even better live.

Honestly I found their live show to be super dissapointing. There was nothing experienced live you could get from watching a DVD. Their music isn't great for singalongs and even worse for dancing. Probably gonna stick to loving their albums and skipping the live shows from now on

I think Conversation 16 has you beat with the whole "I was afraid I'd eat your brains" - oldgospelchoir wrote:

better than TGA I donno. I guess we look for difference stuff in live shows. I find if I can't dance along or sing along, I dont tend to have much fun. Like I said, I could just watch a DVD at home and get the same experience.

Maybe my crowd sucked. Singing along when no one else is is awkward.

| They were pretty boring when I saw them. I've heard they're either great (when Matt is drunk) or really boring (not drunk enough) | |

| who else thought last night's game of thrones was perfect?
Tywin Lannister marches in and declares, "The battle is over, we have won!"
And cut to The National's rendition of "The Rain of Castermere"
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!

| I think The National are one of the best bands going right now. Matt's voice is so rich (but then again, he's a bass, so what do you expect) and the songs kind of coax you in gently, so you don't even realize you're falling in love with them until you're playing them on repeat while driving around at midnight. Great band. | |
