Never heared that, I got told it's more "country tinged" though... "country tinged" wow thats like the worst description ever for Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers
its kinda more upbeat, lots of tempo changes and Matt kinda screams also...something that I believe High Violet lacks big time. but he does that on stage, a lot! I love how you can really see he feels his lyrics

Listen to Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers yet? Listened to most of it last night. Don't know what my friend was talking about with the "country tinged" comment about it... i'm loving it. Slipping husband and 90 mile water wall are the tracks that standout to me. It's quite different from boxer and high violet, but I reckon it shares similarities with alligator

| What songs/albums would you recommend listening to first. I have heard a bit of their stuff but I am still undecided. I want to like them though lol. | |

I'm just listening to track previews of it on iTunes now. They sound quite good just not instantly likable. They seem like the kind of songs that grow on you.

| the national is the definition of a grower band. i started with high violet, but boxer might be even better. definitely check out those two first and give yourself some time to get into it, cuz its all worth it once the songs hit you | |
