I sent the seller the following e-mail:

I am one of the admins on www.dimestoresaints.com (The Gaslight Anthem Fan Forum) and I also have a copy of the SOS on black so I have been asked to validate that this is a legit 1st pressing. Can you please post the following:
1) What are the etching numbers and phrases written on the vinyl near the center of the record.
2) Could you post/email me a picture of the back of the record jacket
3) Could you post/email me a picture of the center of the record
4) What is written on the bottom of the spine of the jacket

If the record is legit I will gladly vouch for it on www.dimestoresaints.com thread about this auction (which should increase the amount it goes for)

If the info is wrong I will obviously post that too

If I don't here from you I will post that you chose not to answer and will post that anyone should only purchase this with extreme caution.

hello everyone -

i am the seller of this item. obviously, its one of my favorite records and one of my most valued so it really sucks that i have to sell it but i have to pay some bills so it will be going to a good cause.

i bought this record a few years ago when this was first released (im pretty sure i ordered it from hellbent...i dont think it was xoxo) so im pretty sure its legit...ive been friendly with a couple of the gaslight guys for years now so i was a supporter of theirs early on and when Sink or Swim came out , i bought both of the color variants at once...black and splatter white and red.

as for the details of this record.

[...] info checked out OK (see 'e7c's' post below), but removed by Admin, so that the details and photos can't be used by someone else in future to pretend that theirs is the real thing

Yep... all that info is good to go! This is another legit copy!

To put things in perspective, the last one of these sold for $407. For that auction, 5 different bidders put in bids over $350. Since only one person won, there presumably remains at least 4 people out there who are willing to pay more than $350 for this record. This is going to get interesting.

Man, I am going to have to watch this. I'm just so fascinated by the huge increase in what people are willing to pay.

Having a lot of financial issues lately... my copy will still not be sold.

4 Days left and it's already at $271. Wow. I'm starting to think I'll never own this.

I will, hopefully not as I'm off to university in September so I wont be able to afford it then, so I plan to save up and keep that money for when this comes up again

yes , at least you know it went to a good if not poor home now. i played credit card chicken and had fingers littlebit burnt . great to have the holy grail lo. Where will next one go lo? I figure not many left up for sale ?
