i messed up the first time! take 2:

sooo. i'm gonna go ahead an introduce myself. i'm katie. i'm from new
jersey. i go to pennstate for english with a focus in creative writing,
the short story. i'm trying to become an english teacher - that oughta
pay those student loans back rightquick! i love this band - to my very
core, i love this band. there are very few musicians that can carry the
grit of the working man in their vocal chord and the angst of world
beneath their fingernails - all this while making me want to dance
uncontrollably! bruce springsteen does it, but the gaslight anthem
gives him a run for his money - at least on a smaller scale. think a
comparison to the boss is a bit much? i don't. even if they never sell
out huge stadiums or recruit drummers from late night talk shows,
they're just the band to quietly fill those shoes... or should i say
those "old man" shoes? HEY-OH!!! whether the gaslight anthem gets
massively successful or not, bruce would be proud.
i got the 59
sound vinyl and the shirt from vinylcollective and i'd LOVE to have a
signed copy, but even if i don't, a forum for the gaslight anthem is a
pretty sick idea.

Katie, good to have you here... being an english major I think it would be great if you did up a really nice review of The '59 Sound and posted it on iTunes or Amazon.

i'd love to. i all sincerity, i really prefer sink or swim, but i think 59 sound shows a lot of maturity. it's compliments the debut and EP well. i also think its very well written. not as gritty as the last two, but still merit-worthy by far.

I am really glad they released the EP as SOS and 59 both have distinct sounds... Senor and the Queen bridge the two of them nicely.

i agree entirely. they're diverse enough to have each of the releases stand extremely well on their own. very dynamic and exciting to see from any band. especially exciting to hear as a fan.

usually I hate it when bands decide to "go in a new direction", and when you hear SOS and 59 there is definetly a different sound... Senor and The Queen was such a nice a bridge
