According to the internet, 'Boxer' is to be released as a single on 11 May 2010. There is no official confirmation of this and it may not be true.
EDIT 11 May 2010: looks like that was just another rumour
EDIT 19 May 2010: well, maybe not such a bad rumour, as it is now streaming on TGA's MySpace
EDIT 26 May 2010: a full page add for American Slang in Uncut says: "includes 'American Slang' and the forthcoming single 'Boxer'"
EDIT 28 May 2010: I have now learnt that while 'Boxer' will be a single, it will not be available on iTunes, but will only be worked to radio, effectively as an add for the album itself.

I love this new record but do not see boxer as having potential to really get TGA to the next level....

Hmm... I like this song in a "Casanova, Baby" type hey-thats-a-fun-song-for-the-record type way, and not in a "Wow, there's the next single way."
This album is just full of potential singles... Stay Lucky, Bring it On, Spirit of Jazz, Diamond Church, Bring it On... Boxer would be about 7th or 8th of the nine non-singles right now. I think a lot of people will be turned off by the intro, though I'm not one of them... it'll be interesting to see how it does out there.

I don't see why people think the intro is that bad...it's like 4 seconds of the song anyways.

It sounds cheap, like some sort of gimmick a band like Taking Band Sunday would use to get people to listen, that's why I'm not really into it!

What are you talking about? Putting that part in just breaths originality in to the song and makes it better than it already was.

it sounds a lot like some cheesy pop punk song in the beginning.... the rest of it is great, but not single material

when i played this cd for my brother yesterday he said he heard boxer on indie radio at his college so i guess its more single-worthy than american slang

eh, not what I would've chosen but the lyrics in the chorus are some of my favorite on the record not that most radio listeners focus on such a thing

The intro kinda reminds me of an early NYC rapping part.
They'll probably put forward another single when the albums released. That'll be Bring It On or American Slang

Yeah the intro to Boxer just really stings my ears.
I think they could have picked a better single, but hey I'm sure there's a reason for everything.
Like I can't imagine anyone not liking The Diamond Church Street Choir, thats just a feel good tune. Everyone I've played it for instantly liked it.
Ah well if it was a single I'd probably end up disliking it as much because thats what always happens.

I love the decision. I think it is by far the best song on the album and I think the album is awesome. I was afraid that the first single was gonna be the generic AS.

I like the intro...even though it somewhat reminds me of something off of Big D and the Kids Tables' Fluent in Stroll. Haha

looks like that was just another bit of internet disinformation
still, it was interesting to see how people reacted to the idea of a Boxer single

I'd be willing to bet American Slang is the first single.
You actually get it immediately if you preorder the album from itunes.

I thought American Slang already was a single. It is on iTunes anyways.
