Nice find! Brian's the only reason I even have a twitter, so now an actual blog will be a pleasant change.

I think this blog ist so great. It makes me feel so much more connected than to any other band. Still since I don't use Twitter yet I have a question to all you Twitter users out there. Brian talks all the time about checking his @briangaslight twitter for questions and setlist requests etc. How does this actually work? Do I just post a tweet at his Twitter page?

Appreciate your help - since I'm actually thinking of getting a twitter account just to get in touch ;o))

What's not to like about Dire Straits, except for that cheesy twisting by the pool that is.

i had never heard that song xD i don't really know them, i might've heard two or three songs so I’m not judging at all-. i'm gonna give them a 'serious' listen one of these days, because i've liked most of the things Brian has recommended. that song is good, although i don't know if i'm gonna be able to get through a whole record... then again, i didn't like Gaslight the first time i heard them Razz i'll let you know

Dire Straits? Check out the 'Telegraph Road', all 14 minutes of it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dd3btVhwr48&feature=related

But the one that always gets me, maybe because of when I first heard it, is 'Brothers in Arms':

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wu4oy1IRTh8&feature=related

These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Some day you'll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And you'll no longer burn
To be brothers in arms

Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
I've witnessed your suffering
As the battles raged higher
And though they hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms

There's so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones

Now the sun's gone to hell
And the moon's riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it's written in the starlight
And every line on your palm
We're fools to make war
On our brothers in arms

unfortunately, yes....he has deleted things before. I had a bit of a back and forth with him (on the cassettes website) based on a use of a word, in his blog, a few entries back....he ended up deleting the entire thing...I felt horrible...I really was just trying to look out for him - he would eventually get stomped on by interviewers at some point for using it ...thought I was being helpful - clearly I did the opposite Embarassed

That's pretty interesting. What word usage did you correct?

It seems silly now...but he said something in regards to being "beaten retarded." Knowing the industry....I know some interviewer would have picked apart the use of the word as offensive and asked him to explain (and it had the possibility of becoming a bigger deal then it really was, etc, etc). Although I know he just using Jersey vernacular, I told him to be careful using the word "retard"...we went back and forth a bit about the semantics of the word...then someone chimed in about how teir friend had been "beaten retarded" and how heartbreaking it is....Brian apologized, said we're all still learning (I apologized in between) and he took the entire post down. I felt like an obnoxious tool......

It's his blog and he can do with it what he sees fit, but I do see where you're coming from in pointing out that word usage, for sure. That's a very sensitive word that he could have been attacked for down the road. But for him to go and delete an entire post like that, just seems... well. I'm not getting into that. It just seems a bit extreme. But, his blog, so.

I didn't think there was anything off about my comment but I'll just stick to little one-liners without any meaning. Give him a comment but put nothing valuable in it. The whole thing has really ruined my day probably more than I should let it, but I guess I'm not in the best of places right now anyway so I should have seen the possibility of that happening and known to avoid the potential upset. 20/20 hindsight, etc. I need another nap.
