Coming soon - The Top 25 Gaslight Anthem Songs

After American Slang officially drops, let's have some fun here on the boards. I want the people who haven't downloaded the album early to be able to take it in and enjoy the album for a while before they start ranking American Slang songs among the rest of Gaslight's catalogue.

I've titled it as the Top 50 for a reason. There are 38 songs from official releases (Sos, SATQ, T59S, & AS) plus live versions and covers.

I'll leave it up to you guys: should Brian's solo stuff count? Should This Charming Man count?

The way this is going to work is I'm going to provide an email address when we open this up and you guys will vote. I'll tally and rank all of the songs in a complicated spreadsheet and spit out the top 50 songs from The Gaslight Anthem thus far.

Obviously we're about 2 months out from doing this so feel free to add suggestions about how to make this whole thing better.

This'll be fun.

Yeah that'd be better. If it was 50 how many songs would actually be left out? If there even is 50 if we don't include This Charming Man.

I think 25 would be better also, would be interesting to see which songs don't even make the cut. Thats even a fair amount for people who only listen to the album material which, thats 2 albums+SATQ.

If there were 50 it would let us rank every song from official releases plus a few covers and live stuff.

Regardless of whether it's 25 or 50 I'm pretty sure we'll all find it very difficult to put our favourite songs in order. I'm not even sure what my number one will be!

What if we did something like 30 or 35

I'd Say keep it to 25-30 max.

Otherwise Album only people will just be relisting the albums rather than choosing favourites as such.

Can we just do a "rank the songs on the albums"? I'm not sure how many that is...38 or something?

Also, for scoring, I assume each number gets a point like... number 1 would get 30 (assuming we're doing 30), while number 30 gets only 1 point? And then the top list goes based off points?

That makes the most sense, I think. It'll be easier for me that way to figure out where songs are ranked.

I like 25 personally that makes it kinda exclusive, we all love most everything theyve put out so far so let make it the best of the best essentially, yeah there will be tough choices, but that will make it interesting

i like the idea of each having a top 25, or 30 then a master list created by the ranks of each individual list.

I think 25 would be the way to go. Adding in live performances would just be too daunting if you ask me.
