Jazz

Hey guys, I'm starting to get into jazz again to listen to primarily for studying. I know all the big names, but I'm looking for recommendations on specific albums. Right now, I've downloaded Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue," "Sketches of Spain," and "Bitches Brew," John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" and "Giant Steps," and Wes Montgomery's "The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery."

So if you guys could give me some recommendations, that would be great. I love jazz guitar like Montgomery and Django Reinhardt, so I'd like to get the names of a few more jazz guitarists. Thanks guys.

those Davis records are excellent. my favorite jazz albums. another one of his i like is Miles Ahead,

i'm also digging Charlie Parker's "Bird With Strings" now. you might want to check that out.

See if you can find Keith Jarrett's, "The Melody at Night, With You" or George Shearing's "Out of This World." Both are fantastic solo piano albums that have done wonders for my grades in college. Thelonious Monk at Carnagie Hall with John Coltrane is also a must as well as Jarrett's "Koln COncert" as far as live stuff goes. Charles Mingus' "The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady" is also a fine choice if you want to mix it up a bit with something less conventional but still true to jazz roots.

As far as guitar goes, I'm not much help, though Jeff Beck's jazz fusion song "Cause We Ended As Lovers" is absolutely stunning in terms of guitar work. Worth picking up for sure.

it gives you a variety from experts in the genre, pretty cool for beginners like me.
