Mark Beemer is a good dude. I don't know what the current story is with him, whether he still has cancer or he survived it, but I really dig the entire Shirts For A Cure idea - cool shirts for a good cause, sold to a good community.
I met him at the recent NMB/Lifetime/Bouncing Souls show... My shoe got untied and I ran out of the crowd toward the merch booths to tie it. Couldn't see my laces in the dark, so he came over and shined his cell phone on my shoes. Nice guy.
I bought the "Fuck Cancer" shirt. Check this out.

-me - Dan, strange question, but what's the weirdest thing you've ever signed
-Dan - I don't know... I mean I don't really sign things, because why is my signature more valuable than any of yours'?
-me
- Well remember a few weeks ago at the Paint It Black show in Philly,
when some kid busted his head in a stagediving accident, snuck
backstage and met your wife who cleaned up the cut in the men's
bathroom? That was me, and I got five staples in my head that night. My
doctor let me keep the staples after he took them out, and I was
wondering if you'd sign the "medical biohazard" bag he put them in.
-Dan - Oh fuck yeah I'll sign that!
Sorry to get off topic. One of my favorite nights.
