That's House of The Rising Sun, an old folk song popularized by the Animals. Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie played it too

I'm not sure it's even got the strength to suck
but thank you so much for this; House of the Rising Sun is one of the first songs I learnt to play on the guitar and it's a real treat hearing it from the Gaslight Anthem ... despite the weak sucking noise in the backround

I think House of the Rising Sun is popular enough it doesn't need an explanation. Old song? Yes. Old folk song? Far from it. Just a great great song.

Truth on the first part. It really is a folk song however. It's a very old traditional song and not classical, so it's called folk.

I wasn't debating the genre of the song. I thought you were saying that it was a song for old people.

lol @ the old folk song thing. It took me a second to see what cooke thought prisoner said. Then I had this image of TGA playing at an "old folks'" home
And thanks for postin this vid. I forgot about that, but if I recall right, that's how they played it when they came to Dallas (w/ House of the Rising Sun bit). Absolutely love HotRS.

Thanks for the vido, was interesting to hear the cover. Not sure it fits as well as the 'What becomes of the Broken Hearted' they slot into Angry Johnny... man I love that.
