I'm sorta surprised that these guys haven't been discussed yet.

While I'm not a huge fan but I do own 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' and 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'.

They've got a got a new record out called 'Humbug' (it came out about a week ago) and it's produced by Josh Homme from Queens of the Stoneage.

I'll definitely be checking this out.

Anyone else here like these guys?

They have been mentioned in a few threads, and even have their own thread, mis-spelt as 'Actic Monkeys' (just 6 posts).

I have all three albums and the EP and I think they are great. Fantastic writing (perfect for modern poetry class) and quite an original sound.

I've only had the new album for a few days, though, and it's somewhat harder to get into. It's much mellower, a little psychedelic at times (some early Pink Floyd comes to mind), and the song subjects differ somewhat as well.

ah k, yeah, i did a search with 'arctic monkeys' and nothing came up.

also, while i had heard people talking about them in other topics, i kinda thought they deserved their own.

monday (pay day), i'll be picking this up.

looking forward to it, especially because of the Josh Homme production.

I really like the first and second album, but "Humbug" has been a little bit harder to get in to. It's definitively a grower though.

I've never really paid much attention to them outside of their singles. I just remember thinking When The Sun Goes Down was an amazing song.

love all the previous albums but I just can't get in to "humbug" something about the slower/heavier sound just doesn't do it for me. I do wish they'd tour more in the us, I've only been able to see them twice and missed their only florida date.

Whatever... was a brilliant album. Favourite... had a couple of great songs but didn't have the same lifespan as the first, in my opinion. I'm yet to pick up Humbug, will get round to doing so; I just don't think they'll ever be able to hit the heights of the first album again, despite the expectation.
