RELEASE MARKS FIRST SPRINGSTEEN OUTDOOR CONCERT FILM AND FIRST FROM A FESTIVAL SETTING

On June 22, Columbia Records will release Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band's London Calling: Live In Hyde Park concert film on one Blu-Ray disc and as a two DVD set. Captured in London at the Hard Rock Calling Festival on June 28, 2009 in HD, the 163-minute film documents 26 tracks of live Springsteen that begin in daylight and progress through a gorgeous sunset
into night.

London Calling: Live In Hyde Parkconveys both the experience of being on-stage and the vast crowd experience of the festival environment. Viewers are able to see Springsteen spontaneously directing the E Street Band and shaping the show as it evolves.

The set list spans from Born to Run era to Working on a Dream and includes rare covers such as The Clash's "London Calling," Jimmy Cliff's "Trapped," The Young Rascals' "Good Lovin'," and Eddie Floyd's "Raise Your Hand." Springsteen also performs fan favorite "Hard Times (Come Again No More)," written by Stephen Foster in 1854. Brian Fallon from The Gaslight Anthem joins the band as a guest vocalist on Springsteen's own "No Surrender."

The concert earned rave reviews. The London Times called it "epic" and "a revved-up three-hour power drive through Springsteen's America." The Independent concurred, "He awed the 50,000-strong crowd... Drenched in sweat by the second number, tossing his guitars to the roadies with the vigour of
a frontman a third of his age and jogging down a walkway to meet his fans and take their requests, Springsteen's intensity was staggering from first powerful vocal to final thrashed-out chord."

GRAMMY and Emmy Award-winning producer and editor Thom Zimny and director Chris Hilson, both members of Springsteen's video team dating back over a decade, oversaw the film. Audio was mixed by Bob Clearmountain.

Bonus material includes stunning footage of "The River" from Glastonbury, June 27; and the full music video for "Wrecking Ball," filmed at New Jersey's Giants Stadium.

It could do, but it looks as if it won't, as it's not listed under the extras.

I was at Hyde Park and thought at the time how superb Springsteen had been. I am really thrilled to bits that they are now releasing that show on DVD. It was a really special day.

i seen a 2 hour documentary on sky arts about the event,showed about half hour of bruce and he was amazing as usual.will be buying this.

I was there it was a special day for many reasons. Mainly because I went with my Dad who is a massive Springsteen fan and shared the experience with him on his birthday (his ticket was my gift to him)

I will be getting this for sure.

Oddly, as someone has just pointed out on BTX, 'Rosalita' is missing, although it was even broadcast on TV at the time. It was the first encore and should hence come before 'Hard Times'. A mere typo? The pundits say it's unlikely.

Would be weird if Rosalita isn't on Not that hyped over the setlist though, but the barcelona setlist isn't very special yet I love that DVD so who cares, I just wished he'd release the stadium breaker, twist & shout!!

Hate to say it but Bruce's version of "London Calling" is awful.

Quick question to anyone who's seen/owns this - I went to the show, along with several members of my family and friends, and a few weeks later we all saw the Sky documentary with Springsteen. Everybody said they thought the sound quality of the programme wasn't as good as it was live, which I can understand, but I was kind of hoping they would make the quality on the DVD a bit better.
Does anyone know if they did anything about that, or is it the same as they had on Sky?

definitely worth picking up, but i'm with simo on the London Calling.

its a great DVD, especially if one was actually there that day, but the packaging really irks me, as the majority of the photographs are not of Hyde Park - please, if you do a single concert DVD, then make sure that the photos are actually from that gig

Unfortunately, the link didn't work (something about copyright) but thank you both for answering. I'll look into buying it sometime time this week. I've seen a snippet of the London Calling piece on YouTube, and I have to agree that it wasn't great, although at the time it was a pretty priceless moment.

I don't think I've ever seen concert packaging, with pictures from another concert...strange idea, whoever came up with that one
