From the Coffeehouse Sessions.

I remember someone said the lyrics were in the info (but looking back it may have been Surrogate Mackenzie stuff).

Anyway, I'm asking because Brian Fallon's take on it has some really cool lyrics but I can't make a bit of it out, and I'm lazy, so I was wondering if anyone has the transcribed lyrics to his version?

I haven't, but I do like the lyrics a lot. I love the "pictures fade into the night, and the hurt too will one day" part. and there's some stuff about New Year's Day and stuff

Auld Lang Syne comes from a Scottish poem and can be translated as 'old long since' or 'long long ago' or 'days gone by' or 'to the good old days'.
It is actually used in a lot of folk songs so knowing Brian's folk roots I guess he heard it in a song there.

Auld Lang Syne if you listen to it starts with thinking about whether old times should be forgotten but you can interpret it as a song to remember long friendships.

It has been used in a lot of old black and white films too, like in the Triad Trilogy, Internal Affairs (something I came across in my grandad's cupboard).

Useless info?
I'll let you decide! Smile
but it helps me understand the song in my own way.

I just listened to it, and tried to catch all the lyrics. I may be off on some, but roughly, it's this:

To all aquantince be forget
and never brought to mind
should all aquantince be forgot
for Auld Lang Syne

For auld lang syne, my dear
for auld lang syne
We'll drink the cup of time again,
for Auld Lang Syne

We'll meet again some new years day
We'll meet again my dear
For my loneliness exceeds the night
But, Darlin, your so near.

We'll feel the ghost of all the years
Stole your pain from mine
We'll fear the ghosts fade away
For Auld Lang Syne

Tonight we'll sing our love song clear
and the clouds will fade some day
FOr the rain is all I have my dear
And the rain is all, i pray

The nights are gone, but stay in mind
and the song remains to play
The pictures fade into the night
and the hurt too will one day.

I tried to work out the lyrics last Christmas and thesse are what I came up with:

Should old acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot for Old Lang Syne?
For Old Lang Syne my dear, for Old Lang Syne?
The dream took up the time we spent oh Old Lang Syne

We’ll meet again some new year’s day we’ll meet again my dear
For my loneliness exceeds the night I’d forgotten one so near
We’ll feel the ghost of old new years slowly fade from mind
We’ll feel the ghosts all fade away for Old Lyne Syne
The night will sing our love song clear and the clouds will fade some day
For the rain is all I have my dear but the rain threw this away
Those nights are gone but stay in mind and that song remains to play
The pictures fade into the night and the hurt too will one day

Should old acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot for Old Lang Syne?
For Old Lang Syne my dear, for old Lang Syne?
We’ll drink up to the time we spent for Old Lang Syne

Should old acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot for Old Lang Syne?
For Old Lang Syne my dear, for old Lang Syne?
We’ll drink up to the time we spent for Old Lang Syne

The night is gone, the day in mind and the song remains to play
Those eyes/nights are gone, they fade away but the hurt it will one day
The night will sing our love song clear and the clouds will fade some day
For the rain is all I have my dear but the rain threw this away
Those nights are gone but stay in mind and the song remains to play
The pictures fade into the night and the hurt it will one day

Should old love songs be forgot and never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot for Old Lang syne?
