So an acoustic version of Desire is the second song for the fan club record? Bummer.

for some reason I had a feeling it would be one new song would be new and the other would be some sort of alternate version of a released song or a cover of some sort.

Halloween is good enough to make up for it (I refuse to use that new title)

heres the email
Quote :

Dear 45 RPM Club Members,
Thanks again for joining this year. As part of your membership, we promised to get each of you an exclusive 7" vinyl with two new Gaslight recordings not available anywhere else in the world. The good news is that the recordings are complete and we think you will like them. Unfortunately, we have had a delay in production, which means we'll be mailing these 7" records to each of you sometime in early 2013. But, in the meantime, we are happy to make the music available to you digitally in the attached link below.
Enjoy and Happy New Year!

The Gaslight Anthem

There are two songs
- Liars On Fire
- Making Whoopee

why is an acoustic version of Desire named as Liars on Fire? I got so excited at first, haha. also, HATE the new name for Halloween...and who is the girl singing in the background of that song?

they just had some fun with it. You are reading way too much into the names.

You could kinda sing "Liars on Fire" instead of "in Desire, Desire" I guess. Making whoopee, I dunno.

I think I like this version of Desire better than the album version.

So far I've decided I like the backing vocals on Halloween but their something about the recording that's bothering me. I swear I keep hearing this like static glitch from time to time. I might be going crazy but it's driving me nuts. Like a lesser, unintentional version of the static sound they put at the start of Great Expectations, just sort of at random in the background.

I'm not convinced yet that those titles aren't a joke. I'll be convinced when they say it, or I see it printed on the packaging.

The vocals are Laura-Mary Carter from Blood Red Shoes.

I'm so glad they gave us the digital versions since the vinyl is a bit behind!

Kinda disappointed with the songs. But oh well.

What's with the song title too? That's awful.

Really enjoying these. Always thought 'Desire' an ace song with ace lyrics, and it now works really well acoustic too. As for the title, I guess we'll see if they turn out to be official.

I think we can assume both of these titles are some sort of inside joke. In my i tunes they are labelled as Desire (alternate acoustic version) and Halloween. Making Whoopee makes absolutely no sense at all and is laughable. Id encourage you all to disregard that as the title.

As for the songs. I like the use of a female accompaniment on Halloween but the girl from Blood Red Shoes wasn't the best choice. No disrespect to her she can sing I think its her accent that spoils it for me. maybe an American would have been better to mirror Brians vocals. I think theres a bit of a clash at times. I do like the recording on the whole though.

Was a bit disappointed to get Desire acoustic once I saw the title Liars on fire but I think its a nice listen all the same and I'd rather have it than a cover.

Obviously not going to ask for links to these I just hope there is a way of getting hold of Halloween soon. I think if I joined the fan club now it would be too late to get these songs anyway wouldn't it? For those who have heard Halloween what is it like in comparison to the footage of it played live? It's such a good song that I hope the studio version is as good as when I first heard it live on YouTube.

I didn't get the chance to download the songs yet but I really appreciate that they sent out the download links as they are late with the production of the vinyl. Well handled.

I actually love the acoustic version of "Desire." It really brings out the soul of the song that got lost in the album version's production.
