Two weeks ago, at a festival gig in Florida, The Gaslight Anthem were laying down their own muscular brand of blue-collar, heart-on-white-Tees, Joisey rock when a fellow musician hanging backstage asked if he could join them for a number: One Edward Louis Severson III.
“It’s was Eddie’s idea,” says Gaslight guitarist Alex Rosamilia before correcting himself. “Sorry, I mean Mr. Vedder. I don’t know him well enough to call him Eddie.
“It was his idea to come out actually. He suggested that we could do State of Love and Trust (from the Singles soundtrack). He’s heard it before, he knew that we played it, I guess.”
