| It's a scary big deal to people, but that was always going to be happen when people become attached to a band, and feel like they know best.
Would I like Eddie Vedder to hurry up and quit smoking, yes...but at the end of the day, it's his choice.
I think Dave has always been a worry, the past and all, and especially when he's about with Matt so much...but again, that's his choice. Up to him, he's a big boy now.

| When I said "lose it" I meant that I would be excited/surprised...I couldn't care less if brian drinks, in fact I'd like to have a beer with him! lol. I guess some people are bothered by it though | |

I think you hit the nail on the head. At the end of the day it's their choice. I worry about Dave too but I think Brian's got a long way to go before I'd worry about his drinking habits, haha. People tend to panic when others change their habits (or not even change them but people think they have). My friends were ready to lock me up after I had my first beer, haha. It's only because they care right? Ed Ved and Brian need to hurry up an quit smoking though! (When I say need I also acknowledge that it's their choice I just worry like crazy about it)

| What's all this about? Is Dave Hause a massive alcoholic or something? | |

| He was drinking a lot during Revival, then stopped drinking after it. But when we saw him at his solo gigs this year he was back to a bottle of whiskey during his set. To me this is a lot.

During his set... Part of me wants to salute this man, it takes me a hour or so to do that... The other part wants to go .. dudddeee - Daire wrote:

Not just the booze he has problems with from time to time...

| The fact that anyone complains about Brian suddenly drinking when one of the biggest parts of his lifestyle is extremely dangerous and poor for his health (smoking cigarettes) is ludicrous and downright ignorant, to be completely honest. | |

| Lots of people have mentioned it...and in here, it's just that this night out, enjoying himself, came to the forefront recently for a lot of people, is why there's a thread on it. | |

Oh no I have no issue with the thread as I kinda took it as tongue-in-cheek....But there are posts on tumblr with people acting like God has just forsaken them..I saw one that said "there goes my hero" which explained how sadly Brian is just another regular guy now..It was sickening.

| Sorry, picked you up wrong.
People are up their own asses with how important THEY think they are in, someones life, that they have never met, or if they have met, it's been for a fleeting moment. The fact that Brian is famous, gives them this entitlement to think they know how to run his life. It's a sad state of affairs, but it's how people fool themselves into thinking they are some superfan and on the same level as the guys. In actual fact, chances are, Brian having a drink and enjoying his life, means he is on a mental stability level, so much more than some of these whackjobs.
As I said earlier, I would love Eddie Vedder to give up smoking, but I'm not going to make him do that, only he can, but I'm not going to have a mental breakdown over the matter.

I saw that post too and was just like "are you kidding me?" He acts like Brian has never had a drop of alcohol in his life and preached that others shouldn't either and then went out and got smashed. If he did that, then I'd understand feeling a little disappointment but it's still his life and doesn't make him a bad person.

| I dont understand some peoples mentality sometimes. Im just thinking its a guy having a couple of drinks with a friend which he does once in a while. i canot possibly see any issue with this at all or how they think they know whats best for him. hes your hero/inspiration etc not your friend. the level of insanity in some of the peoples comments is unbelievable | |

I think people would have less of a problem if it was their friend because you don't put your friend on a pedestal. Also they're be able to see he hasn't turned into a drunk. I can relate now better too. I've never been one to drink much, just occasionally because, like Brian, I haven't really wanted to. But I do have a drink sometimes with friends and I've been drunk a few times so I feel better knowing he's got a similar perspective on it but DOES have a drink sometimes.

| I have one of this deja vu moments. I'm pretty sure we went through this very same discussion already once but I can't find the thread anymore. And I also tried to convince him to quit smoking last year in Hamburg. Told him about this electric cigarettes that are supposed to help you to quit. I guess my advice didn't have much of an effect. Hahaha | |

I didn't think you were having a go at me and I agree with you 100%. To be fair though he has (in the past) said "I don't drink" and "I don't really drink" and then "One or two and I'm asleep". I've heard all those before (I'll try and find where later). But still the reaction is WAY over the top.
