| one of the first songs:
The Path Home
There was nothing to be done, No way it could ever be won, No one can stop passing time, It’s never on our side.
CH: Well can you see your path now? Did you see the light? Did you feel the sadness? It’s all I’ve ever got.
We’re always running somewhere, But never getting far, Just getting enough, To think we’ll get by.
No words were ever said, About how to go on, Taking a day then another, Seems the only way.

| So I just finished one more set of lyrics - guess the subject and you get a free copy of the record when it's done:
Waiting Game (With No Blame)
I’m sick of waiting for a sign, Cos I have committed no crime, You made sure I did time, But only because I let you. = CH: No need for a return ticket, Cos you ain’t coming back, The last thing you’ll ever do, Is lose your final fight. = No one can fix it anymore, All the pieces on the floor, Such a crying shame, A relentless waiting game. = Walking away in the East Village, Before we got to the bridge, The only thing that’s still true, Is a hijacked memory of you.

| More amazing lyrics, Steve! I'm not ready to guess on the subject yet, I have to think about it some more. I really like the lines:
"The only thing that's still true, Is a hijacked memory of you."
Powerful words. | |

| Last free preview before these get bashed into shape and then recorded:
Bad blood, no good, Wasted time, a dark ryhme.
Sharp tongue, cuts deep, And talk's cheap.
A boot's kick, light the wick, Time's tight, not right, Like a black light.

| I love it hear to be honest - my lyric writing has gone through the roof since I listened to American Slang through headphones with the words in front of me.
Does anyone from the band ever drop by here? Would like to thank em!

| Just finished up some more lyrics if anyone's interested? Got offered a support slot tomorrow night as a band cancelled late on, but we're just not ready to unleash our stoner rock - not just yet anyway! | |

| Let’s Leave This Place Today
Well it seems the journey’s over, The road has reached its end, Must be somewhere we can go now, Maybe there’s something around that bend. Just passed the wild wood ahead.
CH: But you really wouldn’t pay Not to stay in this place, Pass through before you pass on, A humbling price to pay, Must be another way, just another way.
They say out the darkness shines a light, It just doesn’t seem all that bright, Sitting here thinking and alone, It’s been good for me, But it’s getting too much...and I can see why.
Every dream you ever had, echoes around this town, You shoudda smiled more, instead you wore a frown. More if onlys than what ifs, But what happen when you’re sure Life’s the other side of a door?
And if you’d ever been where I have then you’d know, Don’t talk to me about lucky.

| Steve, this is great! Please post a recording as soon as you get one done! I especially like this verse:
Every dream you ever had, echoes around this town, You shoudda smiled more, instead you wore a frown. More if onlys than what ifs, But what happen when you’re sure Life’s the other side of a door?

| Hopefully gonna get togther with my band in March but we're only a loose collective these days!
And there's more to life than JimmyB!
The thing is I really wouldn't have felt comfortable including references to other songs in mine, but TGA show it can be done

Oh, I know there's more to life than JimmyB, BELIEVE ME! I'm telling you, his negativity has permeated so many of these threads, that's sometimes it spills over where it doesn't belong. I think I need to seek counseling now... Good luck with your band! I think you are a talented songwriter and I hope we get to hear your songs sometime. I think that's one of the great things about TGA. Brian is extremely creative in his ability to incorporate songs that inspire him into his own work. I think of it as his way of paying homage to his heroes. I bet he would be honored to hear that other songwriters feel that way about his music.

| That's the thing - I reckon he would find it weird happening to him.
Like we're working on a tune at the moment - I loosely wrote it but two mates jammed it out.
They're like "there's something good in that song you wrote" and I'm like "I really just figured out the chords and the words" and they're like "dude it's your tune" and I'm like "nah!"
I could send you the soundcloud link?
