| In a couple of the other threads there have been discussions on music from different decades, so I thought I would start a list of favorite songs by decade, from the 1950s to the 2010s. I'll start:
1950s - "Johnny B. Goode" - Chuck Berry (1958)
1960s - "Like a Rolling Stone" - Bob Dylan (1965)
1970s - "Born to Run" - Bruce Springsteen (1975)
1980s - "Boys of Summer" - Don Henley (1984)
1990s - "Mary Jane's Last Dance" - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (1993)
2000s - "Red At Night" - The Gaslight Anthem (2007)
2010s - "Bring It On" - The Gaslight Anthem (2010)

| Great idea! This was difficult for me, but this is what I've got
1950s: Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Goode (Apologies for copying you, but it doesn't get any better Chuck Berry for the 50s)
1960s: The Beatles - A Day in the Life
1970s: Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
1980s: Guns N' Roses - Paradise City (This was the hardest to choose because I'm not a huge fan of 80s music)
1990s: Jimmy Eat World - Goodbye Sky Harbor
2000s: The National - Fake Empire
2010s: Death Cab for Cutie - Doors Unlocked and Open
I expect that if I redid this list at some point then a few of these would change, but I think this is what it would currently be

| Nice choices, Camus! Wish You Were Here is totally brilliant, and it breaks my heart every time I hear it.
Also, I love Paradise City! It's my favorite GNR song.

| Disclaimer: This list is subject to constant change. Also, I accidentally closed the tab when I was almost finished so now I gotta do it again. God damn it. 1950s The Platters - The Great Pretender (1955) 1960s The Beatles - Within you without you (1967) 1970s Derek and the Dominoes - Layla (1970) 1980s Tom Petty - I won't back down (1989)] 1990s Bad Religion - American Jesus (1993) 2000s Midnight Oil - Luritja Way (2002) 2010s The Gaslight Anthem - American Slang (2010) | |

| Very creative, Harbortown! The Platters surprised me. I think that's what is so great about these lists, there is always a variety. | |

| 1950s - "Jailhouse Rock" - Elvis (1957)
1960s - "Volunteers" - Jefferson Airplane (1969)
1970s - "Sweet Virginia" - Rolling Stones (1972)
1980s - "The River" - Bruce Springsteen (1981)
1990s - "You Know You're Right" - Nirvana (Not Released until 2002, but recorded in 1994)
2000s - "Even Cowgirls Get The Blues" - The Gaslight Anthem (2008)
2010s - "Honolulu Blues" - Craig Finn (2011)
Almost tempted to put Mother of Earth by The Gun Club in as my 80's choice, and the 90's one probably deserves a lot more of a thought, but off the top of my head.

this list is completely NOT set in stone...just the things I like right now and that reminded me of certain times. honestly, if my list was unchangeable, i would think i haven't listened to enough music.

I don't think anyone's list is totally set in stone because music is so emotional. If your mood changes, your song choice could change too. Other than my choices for 60s and 2010s, my songs are subject to change too.

Wooot. I had to put Born To Run on there cause that song and album drew me to rock'n'roll in the first place. Johnny B. Goode because it's just such a classic. |

| This is way too hard. But I'm going to try it anyway.
1950's: Elvis Presley - Hound Dog (1956)
1960's: Bob Dylan - Don't Think Twice, It's All Right (1963)
1970's: Bruce Springsteen - Backstreets (1975)

1990's: Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (1998)
2000's: Social Distortion - Reach For The Sky (2004)
2010:s Arcade Fire - Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains) (2010)
This list will probably look entirely different tomorrow.
