| I'm mostly talking about Brian's parts. I've got a Strat and a Fender Super Champ XD amp which I know isn't what Brian uses but I should be able to get something decent right? I don't really know anything about guitar effects since I was primarily an acoustic player until recently. Just wondering if anyone could give me some general guidance on what to set things up like? | |

| I use an Epi Les Paul and a Line 6 Spider amp.
Use the Crunch setting, Drive 6, Bass 3, Mid 5.5, Treble 3
and I use the neck pickup mostly.

| Yeah I got my Epi Les Paul back from my cousin who I had loaned it too. It's slightly better. Not really a better guitar than my Strat but it gets closer to the sound I'm looking for for these songs. I set it up so that I can leave it tuned down a full step. | |

| And yes, D Standard tuning is the way to go. I love the sounds and tones. With the strings being a lot lighter it's even easier to play I'd keep it there but everything my band plays is in E Standard...and capo'ing is not the answer. | |

| I play a Mexican Strat that I got new in the early 2000s. It does the job, but is definitely not my dream guitar. Waiting until I can afford to blow a couple thousand on a guitar and then getting a Les Paul and a Martin acoustic. Not sure on the models yet. Just don't want to end up with 5 guitars that I don't want to play so I'm waiting until I can afford the ones I should be happy with forever. | |

save yourself a few hundred (or more!) and buy a Taylor instead of a Martin. I know Martin's are considered the best, and the probably are, but playing a Taylor is so much different. My absolute favorite guitars. It's all preference, but definitely play some Taylor's to see if you like

| Will do.
You prefer taylors because they are easier to play or because of the sound (or both)?

Their sound is literally perfect in my opinion. And the wood work is so smooth too. I can't remember the model, but the one I wanted was $700 new at Guitar Center. I played that $2400 Gibson, then picked up the Taylor and fell in love.
