This is what I was able to write out. Not 100% accurate, but it's pretty close.

The cats are going crazy Mona Lisa
Try to say my future is stone
They say they make all the right calls
To all the right numbers and the fat cats know
And these wheels are meant for burnin'
And these wings weren't meant to last
And in the end it's all fireworks and smoke rings
The treacherous road, baby, try not to crash

Keep your singin' voice golden
Keep your red shoes on
I just wanna sing rock and roll
And buy my baby something nice to take home
I wanna dance with the poor girls, senora
I just wanna dance

After all, it's just a crazy dream, baby
All these good cards burn up in a flash
Well, my mind's getting late, Cinderella
How long before these dresses turn right back to rags?

And don't forget about my home boy
He almost died at them gates
Thank the good Lord for sending His angels in a
'49 Mercury for lightning fast getaways

And keep your singin' voice golden
Keep your red shoes on
I just wanna sing Motown soul
And buy my baby something nice to take home
I wanna dance with the poor girls, senora
I just wanna dance
I wanna dance with the poor girls, senora

They're not your friends, they all wanna sell your blood
Isn't that why everybody signs up
Well, get it baby, keep your eyes on the Cadillac
And keep them feet dancing, just keep them feet dancing
They're not your friends, they all wanna sell your blood
Isn't that why everybody signs up
Well, get it baby, keep your eyes on the Cadillac
And keep them feet dancing, before they say you're too old

Keep your singin' voice golden
Keep your red shoes on
I just wanna sing rock and roll
And buy my baby something nice to take home

And keep your singin' voice golden
Keep your red shoes on
I just wanna sing Motown soul
And buy my baby something nice to take home

And keep your singin' voice golden
Keep your red shoes on
I just wanna sing rythym and blues
Crack this old heart, baby, made of stone

Love this song, and I've got the 7" on order now!
Thanks for posting the tab, great job as always JR Very Happy

A few things I noticed on some transitions that he uses:
-The (G) chord he plays in the intro is, as far as I can tell, just playing the note D (5th string, 2nd fret after capo) to bridge into the Am, while leaving your index finger in the same place as the C chord.
Looks like this: 020010 (C/B)
-Between the Am and F in the intro, he lifts his middle and ring finger off the strings for a beat, essentially playing 000010.
-The F chord in this song is x33210

Those sound right to y'all?

In the video version it seems he plays a different (slightly) part for the bridge.

F G Am F (C) Am F (C) Am C G is what I heard and saw. It reapeats when he sings the bridge a second time.

Would be awesome to have the slide guitar parts to this song. The whole song would probably be a pain, but I'm sure the part before Brian starts singing is doable for someone more talented than me...

sorry to bump the thread, but this is driving me crazy. What is Brian singing in the background at the end of the song, I've listened to it several times and I can't work it out.

Nah, there's defiantly something he's singing something, just a couple of line in the background of the last chorus. I only really hear it during 'keep your singing voice golden, and keep your red shoes on'.

Brian said it's the beginning of the 23rd Psalm. Starts with "the Lord is my shepherd" and the rest is pretty hard to make out.

I hear "The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want". Anybody else? Smile I think it'd makes sense with the overall theme of not selling out to the music industry.

But can someone explain the title to me, please? I've never heard of a tin pan alley.

Tin Pan Alley is the name given to the collection of New York City music publishers and songwriters who dominated the popular music of the United States in the late 19th century and early 20th century. The name originally referred to a specific place: West 28th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenue in Manhattan, and a plaque (see below) on the sidewalk on 28th Street between Broadway and Sixth commemorates it. This block is now considered to be part of Manhattan's NoMad neighborhood and the Flower District. (from wikipedia)
